OHL ANNOUNCES TOP PERFORMERS OF THE MONTH FOR NOVEMBER

TORONTO (Tuesday, December 2, 2025)- The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) today announced Top Performers of the Month for November 2025.

Player of the Month – Nathan Aspinall (Flint Firebirds) – 14 GP, 11G, 13A, 24 PTS., +5
New York Rangers prospect Nathan Aspinall of the Flint Firebirds is the OHL Player of the Month for November, leading the League with 24 points (11-13–24) as the Firebirds played to an impressive record of 11-2-0-1. Flint’s captain, Aspinall put together five separate performances of three points or more, scoring twice four different times. He set up linemate Jimmy Lombardi for the overtime winner on Nov. 14th at Brantford, capping-off a three-point performance in a 3-2 victory. Aspinall enters the month of December on an eight-game point streak as the Firebirds sit one point back of first place Windsor in the West Division.

A 6-foot-7, 207Ib. 19-year-old left wing from Markham, ON, Aspinall leads the Firebirds with 38 points (17-21–38) with a plus-10 rating over 24 games in this, his fourth OHL season. Selected by the Rangers in the fifth round (159th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Aspinall signed an NHL contract with the Blueshirts on Oct. 23rd, 2025. He was originally Flint’s second round (33rd overall) pick from the Markham Waxers U16 AAA program in 2022.

Also considered for the award this month, Utah Mammoth prospect Cole Beaudoin of the Barrie Colts posted 19 points (6-13–19) over 11 games while Firebirds teammate Jimmy Lombardi, a prospect of the Los Angeles Kings, led the OHL with 13 goals along with 19 points over 13 November contests.

Defenceman of the Month – Adam Jiricek (Brantford Bulldogs) – 12 GP, 5G, 11A, 16 PTS., +3
St. Louis Blues prospect Adam Jiricek of the Brantford Bulldogs is the OHL Defenceman of the Month for November, leading OHL rearguards with 16 points (5-11–16) over 12 contests as the league-leading Bulldogs played to a mark of 8-2-2-0. Jiricek recorded a point in all but one of Brantford’s November matchups, carrying a 13-game point streak from Oct. 26th through Nov. 29th. His November performance was headlined by a three-point effort (2-1–3) on Nov. 15th in a 5-4 win over the Brampton Steelheads, a game in which Jiricek scored the winning goal. He scored three game-winning goals in the month of November.

A 19-year-old right-shot defenceman from Plzen, Czechia, Jiricek fourth in scoring among OHL defencemen with 26 points (9-17–26) over 23 games along with a plus/minus rating of plus-15. The 6-foot-3, 185Ib. blueliner recorded 12 points (4-8–12) over 27 games with the Bulldogs after joining the team midway through last season. He was St. Louis’ first round (16th overall) pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and signed with the Blues on July 2, 2024. Jiricek was Brantford’s first round (19th overall) pick in the 2023 CHL Import Draft. He has represented Czechia at each of the past two World Junior tournaments, winning bronze both times.

Also considered for the award this month, New York Islanders prospect Kashawn Aitcheson of the Barrie Colts scored nine goals in as many games, adding six assists for a total of 15 points. NHL Draft prospect Chase Reid of the Soo Greyhounds recorded 12 points (7-5–12) over 10 games.

Goaltender of the Month – Ben Hrebik (Barrie Colts) – 6-0-1-1, 1.97 GAA, .946 SV%, 282 SV
Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts is the OHL Goaltender of the Month for November, earning six wins along with a 1.97 goals-against average and .946 save percentage over eight contests. Hrebik kept busy, helping the Colts earn at least a point all eight times he was in the crease. He stopped fewer than 30 shots just twice with back-to-back 43-save efforts in wins over Peterborough and Sudbury on Nov. 13th and 15th. He rides a four-game winning streak into the month of December.

A 6-foot-3, 204Ib. 19-year-old goaltender from Milton, ON, Hrebik owns a record of 9-5-1-3 with a 2.90 goals-against average and .923 save percentage over 18 games this season. The former ninth round (173rd overall) pick by the Colts in 2022 had an impressive first full season in the OHL in 2024-25, going 21-9-2-0 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .920 save percentage over 34 regular season games before seeing seven games of playoff action. He attended NHL prospects camp with the Boston Bruins this past September.

Also considered for the award this month, Easton Rye of the Peterborough Petes played to an 8-2 mark with a 2.49 goals-against average and .929 save percentage, making 326 saves in November.

Rookie of the Month – Ryder Fetterolf (Ottawa 67’s) – 8-0-0-0, 1.98 GAA, .925 SV%, 1 SO, 197 SV
Ottawa 67’s netminder Ryder Fetterolf is the OHL Rookie of the Month for November, posting an undefeated 8-0 record along with a 1.98 goals-against average and .925 save percentage with one shutout. Fetterolf continued his impressive play into November, starting the month with a shutout of the Oshawa Generals on Nov. 2nd. He’s helped the 67’s climb the standings to within three points of first place Brantford in the East Division. Fetterolf carries a nine-game winning streak into the month of December that dates back to Oct. 29th.

A 17-year-old from Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Fetterolf owns the league’s second-lowest goals-against average of 2.04 while going 13-2-1-0 with a .922 save percentage and two shutouts through 16 games this season. He’s also a perfect 4-for-4 in shootout scenarios. The 67’s signed Fetterolf as an undrafted free agent over the offseason after he spent 2024-25 at Gilmour Academy located in Gates Mills, Ohio. He is eligible for the 2026 NHL Draft and committed to Penn State University (NCAA).

Also considered for the award this month, NHL Draft prospect Caleb Malhotra of the Brantford Bulldogs recorded 13 points (5-8–13) over 11 games.

OHL Writers’ Draft Eligible Player of the Month: November

FORWARD OF THE MONTH: ALEX KOSTOV – FLINT FIREBIRDS

Draft re-entry candidate for 2026, Kostov delivered a statement month in November, piling up 9 goals and 9 assists across 10 games while recording at least one point in every outing. His signature performance came on November 7, when he lit up the North Bay Battalion with four goals. Remarkably, he followed that effort the very next night with a three-goal showing against the Guelph Storm, cementing one of the most memorable back-to-back performances of the season.

Beyond the scoring touch, Kostov was reliable in the faceoff circle, winning 77 of 145 draws for a 53.1% success rate. His efficiency stood out as well—he generated 36 shots on goal and converted at a sharp 25.0% clip.

Other standouts in November included Owen Sound’s Pierce Mbuyi, who posted 6 goals and 11 assists in 13 games, and Ottawa’s Jasper Kuhta, who chipped in 5 goals and 10 assists over 12 contests.

DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH: CHASE REID – SOO GREYHOUNDS

Reid continues to generate buzz in draft circles, and November only strengthened his case. The dynamic defenseman produced 7 goals and 5 assists in just 10 games, showcasing his ability to drive offense from the back end. His impact was felt in key moments—two of his tallies came on the power play, while another stood as the game-winner.

Reid’s shot volume was equally impressive, firing 44 pucks on net throughout the month. His most dominant outing came on November 7 against the Guelph Storm, where he peppered the opposition with 8 shots.

Also in the mix was Windsor’s Carson Woodall, our reigning Defenseman of the Month for September and October. Woodall remained steady with 5 goals and 7 assists across 12 games for the Spitfires.

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH: BEN HREBIK – BARRIE COLTS

The OHL Goaltender of the Week (Nov. 10–16) was a clear choice for us here. Hrebik delivered a dominant stretch, going 6-0-1-1 in eight appearances while turning aside 282 of 298 shots for a stellar .946 save percentage. He rose to the occasion under heavy fire, facing 40-plus shots three times and posting a 2-0-0-1 record in those outings. On two other nights, he stopped 39 shots en route to a perfect 2-0-0-0 mark. His consistency was underscored by a sharp 1.96 goals-against average across the month.

Also in the conversation was Peterborough’s Easton Rye, who put together an impressive run of his own. Rye went 8-2-0-0 in 10 games, stopping 326 of 351 shots for a .929 save percentage.

TORONTO (Monday, November 17, 2025) – The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) today announced Top Performers of the Week for the week of regular season games ending Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Firebirds’ Nathan Aspinall Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

New York Rangers prospect Nathan Aspinall is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, recording four goals, three assists and seven points over three wins.

Aspinall put together back-to-back two-goal performances, lighting the lamp twice before setting-up the game-winner on Friday night in Brantford as the Firebirds defeated the first place Bulldogs 3-2 in overtime. He was the game’s first star once again on Saturday, recording two goals and two assists as Flint scored six unanswered goals to beat visiting Owen Sound 6-2.

A 19-year-old from Markham, ON, Aspinall leads the Firebirds with 27 points (12-15–27) over 18 games in his fourth OHL season. The 6-foot-7, 207Ib. left wing was the Rangers’ fifth round (159th overall) pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, and signed a three-year entry-level NHL contract with the Blueshirts on Oct. 23, 2025. He’s amassed 112 points (48-64–112) over 174 career regular season games with Flint. The Firebirds selected Aspinall in the second round (33rd overall) in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection from the Markham Majors AAA program.

Colts’ Ben Hrebik Named Mary Brown’s Chicken OHL Goaltender of the Week

Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts is the Mary Brown’s Chicken OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 1-0-1-0 with a 1.46 goals-against average and .958 save percentage over a pair of starts.

Hrebik turned aside 69 shots last week, providing 26 of those on Thursday as the Colts fell 2-1 in overtime to the visiting Saginaw Spirit. Hrebik was the game’s first star at Sadlon Arena on Saturday, stopping 43-of-44 as Barrie defeated the Peterborough Petes 3-1.

A 19-year-old from Milton, ON, Hrebik is 6-5-1-3 with a 3.07 goals-against average and .918 save percentage in 15 games this season. A former ninth round (173rd overall) pick by the Colts in 2022, Hrebik owns a career mark of 27-15-3-3 with a 2.98 goals-against average and .918 save percentage over 51 regular season games. He attended Prospects Camp with the Carolina Hurricanes in June 2025.

67’s’ Ryder Fetterolf Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Ottawa 67’s netminder Ryder Fetterolf is the OHL Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, going 2-0 with a 1.44 goals-against average and .942 save percentage.

Fetterolf turned aside 23-of-24 shots on Wednesday at the Canadian Tire Centre, earning second star honours as the 67’s defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 2-1 in a shootout. He provided 26 more saves on Saturday, earning second star recognition once again as Ottawa defeated the Niagara IceDogs 6-2.

A 17-year-old from Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Fetterolf is among the league leaders with a record of 10-2-1-0, a 1.90 goals-against average and .928 save percentage through 13 outings. The 6-foot, 186Ib. netminder is on a six-game winning streak, performing well in his NHL Draft eligible season. Firebirds Prospect Ulysses Lombardi Named GOHL Prospect of the Week

Flint Firebirds prospect Ulysses Lombardi of the Waterloo Siskins is the GOHL Prospect of the Week, recording four goals, two assists and six points over a pair of outings.

Lombardi collected five points on Thursday night in Ayr, scoring a hat-trick while adding two assists as the Siskins defeated the Ayr Centennials 10-3. He lit the lamp again on Sunday as Waterloo fell to rival Cambridge by a score of 4-2.

A 17-year-old from Aurora, ON, Lombardi has 18 points (8-10–18) over 12 games in his first GOHL season. The younger brother of former Firebirds 100-point scorer Amadeus Lombardi spent 2024-25 with the Markham Waxers U18 AAA program, recording 32 points (18-14–32) in 30 regular season games before adding 16 points (9-7–16) over 10 playoff contests to help them win an OMHA championship. He was Flint’s 10th round (188th overall) pick in 2024.

OHL Writers’ Draft Eligible Player of the Month: September

With the opening month of the 2025–26 Ontario Hockey League season now behind us, OHL Writers are set to unveil their picks for the top forward, defenseman, and goaltender eligible for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft for the month of September.

FORWARD OF THE MONTH: Caleb Malhotra, Brantford Bulldogs

It was quite the September for Malhotra as he scored 3 goals and added 5 assists and was a plus-8 in just three games. He had points in each of his games and had a 5-point night on 2 goals and 3 assists on September 27 in a 7-2 win over the Sudbury Wolves. Two of his goals were game winning goals.

Egor Barabanov of the Saginaw Spirit also earned consideration. Over four games, he tallied three goals and six assists with a plus-1 rating. Each outing was a multi-point effort, with his lone goalless performance coming on September 26 against the Niagara IceDogs. Barabanov is a draft re-entry.

DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH: Carson Woodall, Windsor Spitfires

Woodall is a draft re-entry defenseman now in his third full season with the Spitfires. He appeared in 5 games and had 7 assists – going without a point just once on September 29 against the Barrie Colts. On September 19 he had three assists in an 8-1 win over the Sarnia Sting and followed that up with two assists against the London Knights the next night in a 4-1 win.

Also considered was Kingston Frontenacs defenseman Vann Williamson, also a draft re-entry. Williamson posted 5 assists in 4 games that including 2 assists on opening night against the Ottawa 67’s.

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH: Michael Newlove, Windsor Spitfires

Newlove was flawless in his two September starts, earning wins in both outings while boasting a stingy 1.00 goals-against average and an outstanding .966 save percentage. He kicked off the month on September 19 by turning aside 21 of 22 shots in a commanding 8–1 win over Sarnia, then backed it up with a 35-save performance on September 28, guiding his team to a 4–1 victory against the Oshawa Generals.

Newlove enters the 2026 draft as a re-entry after going undrafted in 2025. He saw limited action last season with the Spitfires, appearing in three games and posting a 2-0-0-0 record, along with a 2.89 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.

Also considered was another draft re-entry candidate, Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts. Hrebik went 0-1-0-1 and had 1.95 goals against average and a .950 save percentage. He stopped 50 of 51 shots he faced on September 25 yet lost 2-1 in a shootout. Two nights later he stopped 26 of 29 shots in a 3-1 loss to Windsor.

PAREKH, ELLIOTT AND ZHILKIN NAMED OHL TOP PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK

Spirit’s Zayne Parekh Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering five goals, three assists and eight points over three contests.

Parekh opened the week with an assist on Thursday in an 8-6 loss to the Peterborough Petes. He followed up with a two-goal, one-assist performance in a 7-6 shootout loss to the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday, earning third star honours. On Sunday, Parekh delivered a dominant outing, scoring his second hat trick of the season and adding an assist for a four-point afternoon, leading the Spirit to a 7-2 win over the Ottawa 67’s and earning first star honours. With 15 points in his last five games, Parekh crossed the 20-goal plateau for a third straight season.

The 18-year-old from Nobleton, Ont. ranks second among OHL blueliners in points this season with 59 (21-38–59) in 39 games. Selected ninth overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2024 NHL Draft, the 6-foot, 185lb. defenceman has amassed a club record among blueliners of 192 points (75-117-192) in 155 regular season games for Saginaw since being drafted 19th overall in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. Parekh has also recorded 20 points (8-12-20) in 24 playoff games, highlighted by being crowned a 2024 Memorial Cup champion as part of the host team. Additionally, he earned both OHL and CHL Defenceman of the Year honours in 2024.

Also considered for the award this week, Spirit teammate and top 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa posted two goals and six assists. Vegas Golden Knights prospect Tuomas Uronen of the Kingston Frontenacs was also a standout, recording nine points (3-6-9) in three games played.

Knights’ Austin Elliott Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Austin Elliott of the London Knights is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, playing to a 2-0 record along with a 2.00 goals-against average and 9.33 save percentage.

Making a total of 56 saves last week, Elliott turned aside 31 of 32 shots on Thursday as the Knights defeated the North Bay Battalion 4-1. The 6-foot-1, 180lb. netminder returned to the crease on Sunday, stopping 25 of 28 shots in a 7-3 road win over the Soo Greyhounds for his 20th consecutive win.

A 20-year-old from Strathmore, AB, Elliott has been dominant this season, remaining undefeated with a perfect 20-0 record, including two shutouts, a 2.27 goals-against average, and a .916 save percentage. His 20 consecutive wins are four shy of a record held by Ray LeBlanc of the 1983-84 Kitchener Rangers, who earned 24 consecutive victories. The Knights acquired the overage goaltender from the Barrie Colts, who had claimed him off CHL waivers in early October. Elliott transitioned to the OHL after starting his career with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades.

Also considered for the award this week, Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers was excellent, going 2-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .922 save percentage, while Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts also played to a 2-0 record, along with a 2.50 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

Spirit’s Dimian Zhilkin Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Saginaw Spirit forward Dimian Zhilkin is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording a goal and five assists over three games played.

Zhilkin opened the week with a goal and an assist on Thursday in an 8-6 loss to the Peterborough Petes. He continued his strong play on Friday, contributing two assists in a 7-6 shootout loss to the Kingston Frontenacs. The 5-foot-9, 160lb. right-winger capped the week with another two assists in a 7-2 win over the Ottawa 67’s on Sunday.

Selected 19th overall by Saginaw in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 AAA program, the Toronto native is excelling in his rookie campaign, tallying 23 points (7-16–23) in 30 games this season.

Also considered for the award this week, Spirit teammate Jacob Cloutier recorded five points (3-2–5), while Owen Sound Attack forward Pierce Mbuyi stood out with four goals in three games.

OHL ANNOUNCES TOP PERFORMERS OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced Top Performers of the Month for December 2024.


Player of the Month – Beckett Sennecke (Oshawa Generals)
Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke of the Oshawa Generals is the OHL Player of the Month for December after recording nine goals, 13 assists, and 22 points in just eight games, along with a plus-4 rating. Currently ranking fifth among OHL goal-scorers this season, Sennecke leads the Generals with 52 points (24-28-52) in 31 games. The soon-to-be 19-year-old had a stellar December, highlighted by a career-high six-point performance on December 1 and a five-point effort on December 4. Sennecke registered multi-point outings in seven of his eight games during the month.

A native of Toronto, Ont., Sennecke was formerly selected eighth overall by the Generals in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-4, 195Ib. right-wing has recorded 175 points (71-104–175) over 155 career regular season contests in Oshawa. He put up 22 points (10-12–22) over 16 games in last year’s playoffs as the Generals were crowned Eastern Conference champions. Sennecke was selected by the Anaheim Ducks with the third overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Also considered for the award this month, Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton of the Sudbury Wolves put up 19 points (5-14–19) over eight contests.


Defenceman of the Month – Henry Mews (Ottawa 67’s)
Calgary Flames prospect Henry Mews of the Ottawa 67’s has been named OHL Defenceman of the Month for December, leading all blueliners with four goals, 16 assists and 20 points over 11 games. The 6-foot-1, 183lb. defenceman recorded points in 10 of his 11 December contests with the 67’s, highlighted by six multi-point efforts, including a four-assist performance on December 14. Mews currently leads all OHL defencemen in scoring this season with 48 points (11-37-48) in 34 games.

An 18-year-old from Ottawa, Ont., Mews has amassed 140 points (38-102-140) in 154 career OHL regular season games since being selected seventh overall by the 67’s in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. He has also contributed nine points (3-6-9) in 21 playoff games. Drafted by the Calgary Flames in the third round (74th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Mews has also achieved international success, winning gold with Canada at both the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the U18 World Junior Championship.


Goaltender of the Month – Ben Hrebik (Barrie Colts)
Barrie Colts goaltender Ben Hrebik has been named the OHL Goaltender of the Month for December. Making 282 saves throughout the month, Hrebik posted a 6-1-0-1 record, a 2.13 goals-against average, .943 save percentage, and a shutout. The 6-foot-3, 199lb. netminder excelled in December, recording 30+ saves in six games, highlighted by a 45-save shutout on December 18 against Owen Sound. Hrebik also earned OHL Goaltender of the Week honours during the month.

The 18-year-old from Milton, Ont. has appeared in 16 games with the Colts this season, posting a 12-2-1-0 record, along with a league-best 2.09 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. Hrebik was selected by Barrie in the ninth round (173rd overall) of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, and spent last season with the OJHL’s Burlington Cougars.

Also considered for the award this month, Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers was impressive, compiling a 8-1-0-0 record with a 2.06 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage, and one shutout. Austin Elliott of the London Knights was also dominant, playing to a perfect 5-0-0-0 record along with a 1.60 goals-against average, a .944 save percentage, and one shutout.


Rookie of the Month – Lev Katzin (Guelph Storm)
Guelph Storm forward Lev Katzin has been named the OHL Rookie of the Month for December, registering 15 points including five goals and 10 assists over 10 games. Katzin sits tied for fourth in team scoring despite playing in just 10 of the Storm’s 34 games so far this season. He delivered standout performances in December with two three-point efforts on December 8 and 13, each featuring a goal and two assists. His efforts also earned him OHL Rookie of the Week honours during the month.

A 17-year-old forward from Thornhill, Ont., Katzin joined the Storm in late November after spending the past two seasons with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, where he tallied 39 points (12-27–39) over 66 games. He was part of the gold medal-winning Team Canada White at the 2023 U17 World Hockey Challenge in Prince Edward Island. During his OHL Draft year, Katzin excelled with the GTHL’s Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program and was the Storm’s fifth round (94th overall) selection.

Also considered for the award this month, Saginaw Spirit forward Carson Harmer had 11 points (6-5–11) in 10 games played. Sarnia Sting forward Liam Beamish was also a standout, registering 11 points (6-5-11) in 11 contests.

OHL Writers Draft Eligible Player of the Month: December

Forward of the Month: Ethan Czata – Niagara IceDogs

Czata led all draft eligible players with 9 goals and 8 assists 11 games during the month of December. When he was on, he was on. All 17 points came in games where he registered multi-point games. Of his 9 goals, 5 came in back-to-back games where he notched two against the Soo Greyhounds and followed that up with a hattrick the following night against the Sudbury Wolves. The bad news: in all but one game he did not register a point, Czata was a minus player.

Also considered was Jake O’Brien of the Brantford Bulldogs who had 8 goals and 8 assists in 10 games. Charlie Paquette of the Guelph Storm with 7 goals and 8 assists in 11 games was also considered.

Defenceman of the Month: Martin Matejicek – Peterborough Petes

The overage import had arguably his best offensive performance in December with 3 goals and 6 assists in the month. He has 3 goals and 10 assists on the season. Matejicek had a two-goal performance against the Guelph Storm on December 8 as well as a 2-assist effort against the Niagara IceDogs on December first. He finished the month on a 3-game assist streak and was a plus-5 on the month.

Also considered were a pair of Kitchener Rangers defencemen. Cameron Reid had 2 goals and 6 assists in 10 games while his teammate Carson Campbell had 8 assists in 10 games.

Goaltender of the Month: Ben Hrebik – Barrie Colts

Hrebik put on what was perhaps one of the best, if not the best goaltending performances by a draft eligible goaltender in recent memory. It certainly was one of the easiest choices we’ve had to make here.

Hrebik went 6-1-1-0 in 8 appearances in December. He stopped 282 of 299 shots he faced for a whopping .943 save percentage and had a 2.14 GAA. He had a 45 save shutout on December 18 against the Owen Sound Attack and averages 37 shots against per game. He was named the OHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 19.

Also considered was November’s goaltender of the month Aleksei Medvedev of the London Knights. He appeared in 5 games in December with a 3-2-0-0 record and stopped 153 of 166 shots for a .922 save percentage while posting a 2.68 GAA.

Spitfires’ Cole Davis Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Windsor Spitfires forward Cole Davis is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering four goals, two assists and six points in a pair of road wins.

Davis led the Spitfires to a successful weekend in Sault Ste. Marie, defeating the Greyhounds in back-to-back matchups. The 5-foot-10, 184lb. left-winger notched a goal and two assists on Saturday as the Spitfires shut out the Greyhounds 4-0. Davis followed up with a career-high four-point performance on Sunday, recording his first OHL hat-trick along with an assist in Windsor’s high-scoring 10-6 victory over the Soo.

An 18-year-old from Sutton, Ont., Davis has registered 15 goals, 12 assists and 27 points in 30 games played so far this season. Selected by the Spitfires in the fourth round (65th overall) of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, Davis has tallied 70 points (36-34-70) in 98 games played over three seasons.

Also considered for the award this week, Spitfires teammate and Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas posted a goal and four assists in the victories. OHL Rookie of the Week Carson Harmer of the Saginaw Spirit was also a standout, recording five points (3-2-5) in two contests.

Colts’ Ben Hrebik Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .958 save percentage in a pair of outings.

Hrebik backstopped the Colts to consecutive wins over the North Bay Battalion, turning aside 39 of the 41 shots that came his way on Saturday to earn first star honours in a 5-2 win. Hrebik returned between the pipes on Sunday in North Bay, making 29 saves as the Colts closed out the Battalion with a 3-1 victory.

The 18-year-old from Milton, Ont. has appeared in 15 games with the Colts this season, posting a 11-2-1-0 record, along with a league-best 1.96 goals-against average and .942 save percentage. Spirit’s Carson Harmer Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Saginaw Spirit forward Carson Harmer is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording three goals, two assists and five points in two games played.

Harmer picked up a pair of assists on Saturday as Saginaw fell 4-3 to the Sarnia Sting. He returned to the scoresheet on Sunday, registering his first career OHL hat-trick to earn first star honours in a 6-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs.

A 17-year-old from St. Mary’s, Ont., Harmer leads OHL rookies with 25 points (14-11–25) through his first 35 OHL contests after being selected by the Spirit in the third round (44th overall) of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. Harmer spent the 2023-24 season with the Stratford Warriors of the GOJHL, tallying 65 points (28-37-65) in 46 games played to be named to the GOJHL All-Rookie Team.

Also considered for the award this week, Spirit teammate Jacob Cloutier also had a strong showing with a pair of goals and an assist.

Generals’ Beckett Sennecke Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke of the Oshawa Generals is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering two goals, six assists and eight points over three games played.

Sennecke’s outstanding performance earned him an invitation to Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp. He got the week started with a goal and four assists, earning second star honours in Wednesday’s 8-4 win over the Ottawa 67’s. On Friday, he added a goal and two assists, claiming first star honours in a 5-3 win against London as the Generals ended the Knights’ 19-game winning streak. Sennecke’s goal on Friday was a goal of the year candidate, seen on highlight reels far and wide.

An 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Sennecke has tallied 44 points (21-23-44) in 26 games this season. Selected eighth overall by Oshawa in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-4, 195lbb. right-winger has recorded 167 points (68-99–167) in 150 career regular season games. He registered 22 points (10-12–22) in 16 playoff games last year, helping the Generals capture the Eastern Conference championship. Sennecke was selected third overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2024 NHL Draft. He heads to Ottawa in a bid to make Canada’s National Junior Team when camp gets underway this week.

Also given consideration for the award this week, 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit registered six points (2-4-6) in two games played. Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas of the Windsor Spitfires was also a standout, tallying three goals, two assists and five points in two contests.

Rangers’ Jackson Parsons Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers is the OHL Goaltender of the Week for the third time this season, going 3-0-0-0 including a shutout, along with a 1.62 goals-against average, and a .943 save percentage.

Turning aside 83 shots last week, Parsons made 23 saves in Tuesday’s 6-3 win over the Brantford Bulldogs. He followed that up on Friday with a 27-save shutout performance, earning first star honours in a 3-0 victory over the Soo Greyhounds. Parsons capped off the week with a 3-2 shootout win over the Windsor Spitfires on Saturday, making 33 saves and three shootout denials to secure second star honours and extend the Rangers’ winning streak to six games.

A  20-year-old from Embrun, Ont., Parsons is 17-5-1-0 on the season, leading all OHL netminders with a 2.05 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and four shutouts over 23 games played. The former third-round (53rd overall) pick by Kitchener in 2020 is now in his fourth OHL season, owning a career mark of 54-37-5-0 with a 3.03 goals-against average, .902 save percentage and eight shutouts over 101 regular season games. Parsons is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Clarkson University next season.

Also considered for the award this week, Detroit Red Wings prospect Landon Miller of the Soo Greyhounds was excellent, going 1-1-0-0 including a shutout with a 1.00 goals-against average and .976 save percentage, while Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts was also a standout in the crease, going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .953 save percentage.

OHL Writers Draft Eligible Player of the Month: November

Each Ontario Hockey League season, we make our selections for forward of the month, defenceman of the month and goaltender of the month among the league’s players eligible for the NHL Entry Draft. Now that the month of November is behind us, let’s take a look at our choices.

Forward of the Month: Michael Misa – Saginaw Spirit

Misa takes this in consecutive months after posting 7 goals and 15 assists in just 12 games in the month of November. He was held pointless just once on November third against the Kitchener Rangers. He recorded a Gordie Howe Hattrick on November 30 against Brampton. He also finished the month a plus-12. Surprisingly, he did not register a game winning goal and only one of his goals came on the powerplay and that came on November 2 against Owen Sound.

Also considered was Porter Martone of the Brampton Steelheads. Martone finished with 6 goals and 16 assists in 12 games and was held off the score sheet just twice. He finished the month with an even plus/minus. Jake O’Brien of the Brantford Bulldogs was also considered. O’Brien had 7 goals and 15 assists in November. He was held off the scoresheet in 4 games and was a minus-5 in the month of November.

Defenceman of the Month: Matthew Schaefer – Erie Otters

Schaefer appeared in 11 games during the Month of November and scored 5 goals and added 10 assists. He was held off the score sheet 3 times and finished the month with a plus-16. He was a minus player just twice with the first being November 8 against the Guelph Storm and the other November 23 against the Kitchener Rangers. He had a whopping 41 shots on goal in those 11 games.

There wasn’t much considered after Schaefer. James Guo of the Saginaw Spirit had 2 goals and 8 assists in 12 games while Jack Brauti of the Niagara IceDogs has 2 goals and 7 assists in 11 games.

Goaltender of the Month: Aleksei Medvedev – London Knights

Medvedev went a perfect 6-0-0-0 in the month of November stopping 174 of 186 shots for a .935 save percentage with 1 shutout. His goals against average in those 6 games was a measly 1.98.

Also considered was Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts. Hrebik went 3-1-0-0 in 5 appearances for the Colts. He stopped 124 of 131 shots for a .947 save percentage. Two of his appearances were in relief.
