Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League today announced Top Performers of the Week for the week of regular season games ending Sunday, January 26, 2025.



Spirit’s Zayne Parekh Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering five goals, three assists and eight points over three contests.

Parekh opened the week with an assist on Thursday in an 8-6 loss to the Peterborough Petes. He followed up with a two-goal, one-assist performance in a 7-6 shootout loss to the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday, earning third star honours. On Sunday, Parekh delivered a dominant outing, scoring his second hat trick of the season and adding an assist for a four-point afternoon, leading the Spirit to a 7-2 win over the Ottawa 67’s and earning first star honours. With 15 points in his last five games, Parekh crossed the 20-goal plateau for a third straight season.

The 18-year-old from Nobleton, Ont. ranks second among OHL blueliners in points this season with 59 (21-38–59) in 39 games. Selected ninth overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2024 NHL Draft, the 6-foot, 185lb. defenceman has amassed a club record among blueliners of 192 points (75-117-192) in 155 regular season games for Saginaw since being drafted 19th overall in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. Parekh has also recorded 20 points (8-12-20) in 24 playoff games, highlighted by being crowned a 2024 Memorial Cup champion as part of the host team. Additionally, he earned both OHL and CHL Defenceman of the Year honours in 2024.

Also considered for the award this week, Spirit teammate and top 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa posted two goals and six assists. Vegas Golden Knights prospect Tuomas Uronen of the Kingston Frontenacs was also a standout, recording nine points (3-6-9) in three games played.

Knights’ Austin Elliott Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Austin Elliott of the London Knights is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, playing to a 2-0 record along with a 2.00 goals-against average and 9.33 save percentage.

Making a total of 56 saves last week, Elliott turned aside 31 of 32 shots on Thursday as the Knights defeated the North Bay Battalion 4-1. The 6-foot-1, 180lb. netminder returned to the crease on Sunday, stopping 25 of 28 shots in a 7-3 road win over the Soo Greyhounds for his 20th consecutive win.

A 20-year-old from Strathmore, AB, Elliott has been dominant this season, remaining undefeated with a perfect 20-0 record, including two shutouts, a 2.27 goals-against average, and a .916 save percentage. His 20 consecutive wins are four shy of a record held by Ray LeBlanc of the 1983-84 Kitchener Rangers, who earned 24 consecutive victories. The Knights acquired the overage goaltender from the Barrie Colts, who had claimed him off CHL waivers in early October. Elliott transitioned to the OHL after starting his career with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades.

Also considered for the award this week, Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers was excellent, going 2-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .922 save percentage, while Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts also played to a 2-0 record, along with a 2.50 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

Spirit’s Dimian Zhilkin Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Saginaw Spirit forward Dimian Zhilkin is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording a goal and five assists over three games played.

Zhilkin opened the week with a goal and an assist on Thursday in an 8-6 loss to the Peterborough Petes. He continued his strong play on Friday, contributing two assists in a 7-6 shootout loss to the Kingston Frontenacs. The 5-foot-9, 160lb. right-winger capped the week with another two assists in a 7-2 win over the Ottawa 67’s on Sunday.

Selected 19th overall by Saginaw in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 AAA program, the Toronto native is excelling in his rookie campaign, tallying 23 points (7-16–23) in 30 games this season.

Also considered for the award this week, Spirit teammate Jacob Cloutier recorded five points (3-2–5), while Owen Sound Attack forward Pierce Mbuyi stood out with four goals in three games.

Frontenacs’ Tuomas Uronen Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Vegas Golden Knights prospect Tuomas Uronen of the Kingston Frontenacs is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering two goals, four assists and six points in a pair of wins last week.

Uronen started the week strong with a goal and an assist on Friday, earning second-star honours as the Frontenacs defeated the Soo Greyhounds 3-1. He followed up on Sunday with another standout performance, contributing a goal and three assists to secure second-star recognition again in a 6-2 victory over the Erie Otters.

A 19-year-old forward from Kerava, Finland, Uronen has recorded 51 points (22-29–51) in 36 games this season. Originally selected by the Ottawa 67’s in the first round of the 2023 CHL Import Draft, the 6-foot, 194lb. right-winger has skated in 47 regular season games split between the 67’s and Frontenacs, tallying 24 goals, 33 assists and 57 points. The Vegas Golden Knights’ sixth round (192nd overall) pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, Uronen recently won a silver medal with Team Finland at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Also considered for the award this week, Calgary Flames prospect Luke Misa of the Brampton Steelheads recorded five points (3-2–5), including a hat-trick, in two contests. Erie Otters teammates in Sam Alfano and Pano Fimis were also exceptional, each tallying three goals, three assists and six points in three games played.

Greyhounds’ Nolan Lalonde Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Nolan Lalonde of the Soo Greyhounds is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, earning two shutouts along with a 0.00 goals-against average and 1.000 save percentage.

Acquired by the Greyhounds at the OHL trade deadline, Lalonde continued to make a strong first impression with his new team. He stopped all 36 shots he faced on Thursday in a commanding 7-0 shutout win over the Peterborough Petes. He was back in net on Sunday, turning aside 24 shots to secure his second shutout of the weekend and fifth of his OHL career in a 3-0 victory over the Ottawa 67’s.

The 20-year-old overage netminder has appeared in 25 games this season between Sault Ste. Marie and Kingston, posting an 11-8-5-0 record, including three shutouts, a 3.07 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage. The 6-foot-2, 197lb. netminder was selected by the Erie Otters in the third round (49th overall) of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. Over four OHL seasons split between Erie, Saginaw, Kingston, and Sault Ste. Marie, he has played in 156 regular season games, amassing a 67-61-10-6 record, five shutouts, a 3.58 goals-against average, and .875 save percentage. In the 2024 OHL Playoffs, Lalonde made 12 appearances with the Spirit, earning a 5-7-0-0 record, a 2.79 goals-against average, and an .893 save percentage. A Kingston, Ont. native, he hosted and won the 2024 Memorial Cup with the Saginaw Spirit. Lalonde signed a three-year entry-level contract as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets in October 2022.

Greyhounds’ Chase Reid Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Chase Reid is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording six assists over three games played.

Reid kicked off a weekend road trip with three assists on Thursday, earning second star honours as the Greyhounds blanked the Peterborough Petes 7-0. He added another assist on Friday, though Sault Ste. Marie fell 3-1 to the Kingston Frontenacs. The 6-foot-2, 185lb. blueliner wrapped up the week with two assists on Sunday, contributing to the Greyhounds’ second shutout of the week in a 3-0 victory over the Ottawa 67’s.

A 17-year-old from Chesterfield, MI., Reid joined the Greyhounds in mid-December after starting the 2024-25 season with the Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL) where he recorded six goals and six assists in 18 games played. In his first 15 games with the Greyhounds, Reid has tallied one goal and 18 assists for 19 points. He was selected by Sault Ste. Marie in the seventh round (125th overall) of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection from the Detroit Victory Honda 15U AAA program. A late 2007-born blueliner, Reid isn’t NHL Draft eligible until 2026.

Wolves’ Kocha Delic Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Sudbury Wolves overage forward Kocha Delic is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering five goals, three assists and eight points in three contests last week.

Delic opened the week with a four-point performance on Thursday, recording a hat-trick and an assist to earn first star honours in a 7-1 win over the Soo Greyhounds. He continued his strong play on Friday, scoring a goal in a 5-4 loss to the Niagara IceDogs. Delic wrapped up the week with a goal and two assists on Sunday, helping the Wolves secure a high-scoring 10-6 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs.

A 20-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., Delic has recorded 49 points (20-29–49) in 37 games this season, securing the third consecutive 20+ goal season of his career. Selected by Sudbury in the second round (28th overall) of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, the 5-foot-11, 198lb. centreman has amassed 211 points (89-122–211) over 205 career regular-season games across four seasons with the Wolves.

Also considered for the award this week, Philadelphia Flyers prospect Denver Barkey of the London Knights recorded seven points (3-4-7) in a pair of wins. Top 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Porter Martone of the Brampton Steelheads was also a standout, tallying a goal, six assists and seven points in three games played.

Petes’ Easton Rye Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Easton Rye of the Peterborough Petes is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0-0-1 with a 2.91 goals-against average and .920 save percentage in three outings.

Making 92 saves last week, Rye stopped 23 of 25 shots on Thursday, backstopping the Petes to a 5-2 win over the Barrie Colts. He returned to the crease on Saturday, making 39 saves and stopping two shootout attempts in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Brantford Bulldogs. Rye wrapped up the week with a 30-save performance on Sunday, helping Peterborough secure a 5-2 victory against the Niagara IceDogs.

The 18-year-old hometown product has appeared in 16 games for the Petes this season, posting a 7-7-1-1 record with a 3.23 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Over two OHL seasons, Rye has played in 25 games, compiling an 8-11-1-1 record with a 4.03 goals-against average and an .891 save percentage. The 6-foot, 196lb. netminder was selected by Peterborough in the fifth round (89th overall) of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection and spent the majority of 2023-24 with the PJCHL’s Lakefield Chiefs.

Also considered for the award this week, Jacob Oster of the Oshawa Generals was excellent, going 2-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.

Storm’s Lev Katzin Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Guelph Storm forward Lev Katzin is the OHL Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, recording one goal, five assists and six points over three games played.

Katzin kicked off the week with an assist on Wednesday as the Storm came up short in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Erie Otters. He added two more assists on Friday, contributing to the Storm’s 6-4 victory over the Flint Firebirds. The 5-foot-8, 176lb. forward capped off the week with a standout performance on Saturday, tallying a goal and two assists to earn first star honours in a 4-2 win over the Soo Greyhounds.

A 17-year-old forward from Thornhill, Ont., Katzin joined the Storm in late November after spending two seasons with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, where he recorded 39 points (12-27–39) in 66 games. In his first 16 games with the Storm, Katzin has tallied seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points, leading all OHL rookies with 1.5 points-per-game. He was part of the gold medal-winning Team Canada White at the 2023 U17 World Hockey Challenge in Prince Edward Island. During his OHL draft year, Katzin excelled with the GTHL’s Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program and was selected by the Storm in the fifth round (94th overall).

Also considered for the award this week, Chase Reid of the Soo Greyhounds contributed five assists in three contests, while Katzin’s Storm teammate Daniil Skvortsov tallied a goal and three helpers from the back end.

Spitfires’ Liam Greentree Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree of the Windsor Spitfires is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week for the second time this season, registering five goals, seven assists and 12 points over four victories.

Greentree captained the League-leading Spitfires to a four-win week, starting with a goal and three assists in a 6-4 victory over the Flint Firebirds on New Year’s Eve, earning first star honours. On Thursday, he recorded a career-high five-point game with a goal and four assists to claim second star honours in a 9-5 win against the Guelph Storm. Greentree continued his strong play on Saturday, earning first star honours with two goals in a 7-5 triumph over the Erie Otters. He capped off the week on Sunday by netting the overtime winner in a 4-3 victory over the Niagara IceDogs, earning first star honours once again and sealing a perfect week for the Spitfires.

A recently turned 19-year-old left-winger from Oshawa, Ont., Greentree leads all OHL players in points this season with 68 (29-39–68) in 38 games. Drafted 26th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2024 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-3, 216lb. forward has tallied 203 points (90-113-203) in 163 regular season games for Windsor. He was selected by the Spitfires in the second round (34th overall) of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.

Also considered for the award this week, Spitfires teammate and Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas posted five goals and five assists in the four wins. Philadelphia Flyers prospect Denver Barkey of the London Knights was also a standout, recording 11 points (3-8-11) in three contests.

Rangers’ Jackson Parsons Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers is the OHL Goaltender of the Week for the fourth time this season, going 3-0-0-0, along with a 1.30 goals-against average, and a .948 save percentage.

Turning aside 73 shots last week, Parsons made 23 saves on New Year’s Eve, defeating the North Bay Battalion 5-2 to close out the year. He followed that up on Thursday by stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced, earning first star honours in a 2-1 overtime win against the Brantford Bulldogs. Parsons capped off the week with another victory on Friday, turning aside 23 of 24 shots to earn second star honours in a 3-1 win over the Erie Otters.

A 20-year-old from Embrun, Ont., Parsons is 23-6-1-0 on the season, leading all OHL netminders with a 2.03 goals-against average and ranking second in save percentage at .928, along with four shutouts over 30 games played. The former third-round pick (53rd overall) by Kitchener in 2020 is now in his fourth OHL season, boasting a career record of 60-38-5-0 with a 2.95 goals-against average, .903 save percentage, and eight shutouts over 108 regular season games. Parsons is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Clarkson University next season.

Also considered for the award this week, Zachary Jovanovski of the Guelph Storm was excellent, going 1-1 including a shutout with a 1.97 goals-against average and .938 save percentage, while Trenten Bennett of the Owen Sound Attack was also a standout in the crease, going 1-2 including a shutout, with a 1.68 goals-against average and .944 save percentage.

Spitfires’ Ethan Belchetz Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Ethan Belchetz of the Windsor Spitfires is the OHL Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, recording three goals, four assists, and seven points in four victories.

Belchetz kicked off the week with a pair of assists on Thursday as the Spitfires secured a 9-5 home victory over the Guelph Storm. He remained productive on Saturday, picking up an assist before scoring the third period game winner to earn third star recognition in a 7-5 win against the Erie Otters. The 6-foot-5, 226lb. forward from Oakville, Ont. capped off the week with another goal on Sunday, helping the Western Conference-leading Spitfires edge the Niagara IceDogs 4-3 in overtime. Windsor now boasts a 29-7-2-1 record this season.

Selected first overall by Windsor in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Oakville Rangers U16 AAA program, the 2024 OHL Cup champion and MVP is excelling in his rookie campaign. He ranks second among all OHL rookies with 26 points (12-14–26) over 30 games. Belchetz won gold representing Canada White at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November, recording five points (4-1–5) in as many games.

Also considered for the award this week, Brooks Rogowski of the Oshawa Generals scored twice and added two assists over four games played. OHL ANNOUNCES TOP PERFORMERS OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced Top Performers of the Month for December 2024.


Player of the Month – Beckett Sennecke (Oshawa Generals)
Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke of the Oshawa Generals is the OHL Player of the Month for December after recording nine goals, 13 assists, and 22 points in just eight games, along with a plus-4 rating. Currently ranking fifth among OHL goal-scorers this season, Sennecke leads the Generals with 52 points (24-28-52) in 31 games. The soon-to-be 19-year-old had a stellar December, highlighted by a career-high six-point performance on December 1 and a five-point effort on December 4. Sennecke registered multi-point outings in seven of his eight games during the month.

A native of Toronto, Ont., Sennecke was formerly selected eighth overall by the Generals in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-4, 195Ib. right-wing has recorded 175 points (71-104–175) over 155 career regular season contests in Oshawa. He put up 22 points (10-12–22) over 16 games in last year’s playoffs as the Generals were crowned Eastern Conference champions. Sennecke was selected by the Anaheim Ducks with the third overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Also considered for the award this month, Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton of the Sudbury Wolves put up 19 points (5-14–19) over eight contests.


Defenceman of the Month – Henry Mews (Ottawa 67’s)
Calgary Flames prospect Henry Mews of the Ottawa 67’s has been named OHL Defenceman of the Month for December, leading all blueliners with four goals, 16 assists and 20 points over 11 games. The 6-foot-1, 183lb. defenceman recorded points in 10 of his 11 December contests with the 67’s, highlighted by six multi-point efforts, including a four-assist performance on December 14. Mews currently leads all OHL defencemen in scoring this season with 48 points (11-37-48) in 34 games.

An 18-year-old from Ottawa, Ont., Mews has amassed 140 points (38-102-140) in 154 career OHL regular season games since being selected seventh overall by the 67’s in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. He has also contributed nine points (3-6-9) in 21 playoff games. Drafted by the Calgary Flames in the third round (74th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Mews has also achieved international success, winning gold with Canada at both the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the U18 World Junior Championship.


Goaltender of the Month – Ben Hrebik (Barrie Colts)
Barrie Colts goaltender Ben Hrebik has been named the OHL Goaltender of the Month for December. Making 282 saves throughout the month, Hrebik posted a 6-1-0-1 record, a 2.13 goals-against average, .943 save percentage, and a shutout. The 6-foot-3, 199lb. netminder excelled in December, recording 30+ saves in six games, highlighted by a 45-save shutout on December 18 against Owen Sound. Hrebik also earned OHL Goaltender of the Week honours during the month.

The 18-year-old from Milton, Ont. has appeared in 16 games with the Colts this season, posting a 12-2-1-0 record, along with a league-best 2.09 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. Hrebik was selected by Barrie in the ninth round (173rd overall) of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, and spent last season with the OJHL’s Burlington Cougars.

Also considered for the award this month, Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers was impressive, compiling a 8-1-0-0 record with a 2.06 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage, and one shutout. Austin Elliott of the London Knights was also dominant, playing to a perfect 5-0-0-0 record along with a 1.60 goals-against average, a .944 save percentage, and one shutout.


Rookie of the Month – Lev Katzin (Guelph Storm)
Guelph Storm forward Lev Katzin has been named the OHL Rookie of the Month for December, registering 15 points including five goals and 10 assists over 10 games. Katzin sits tied for fourth in team scoring despite playing in just 10 of the Storm’s 34 games so far this season. He delivered standout performances in December with two three-point efforts on December 8 and 13, each featuring a goal and two assists. His efforts also earned him OHL Rookie of the Week honours during the month.

A 17-year-old forward from Thornhill, Ont., Katzin joined the Storm in late November after spending the past two seasons with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, where he tallied 39 points (12-27–39) over 66 games. He was part of the gold medal-winning Team Canada White at the 2023 U17 World Hockey Challenge in Prince Edward Island. During his OHL Draft year, Katzin excelled with the GTHL’s Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program and was the Storm’s fifth round (94th overall) selection.

Also considered for the award this month, Saginaw Spirit forward Carson Harmer had 11 points (6-5–11) in 10 games played. Sarnia Sting forward Liam Beamish was also a standout, registering 11 points (6-5-11) in 11 contests.

Spitfires’ Cole Davis Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Windsor Spitfires forward Cole Davis is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering four goals, two assists and six points in a pair of road wins.

Davis led the Spitfires to a successful weekend in Sault Ste. Marie, defeating the Greyhounds in back-to-back matchups. The 5-foot-10, 184lb. left-winger notched a goal and two assists on Saturday as the Spitfires shut out the Greyhounds 4-0. Davis followed up with a career-high four-point performance on Sunday, recording his first OHL hat-trick along with an assist in Windsor’s high-scoring 10-6 victory over the Soo.

An 18-year-old from Sutton, Ont., Davis has registered 15 goals, 12 assists and 27 points in 30 games played so far this season. Selected by the Spitfires in the fourth round (65th overall) of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, Davis has tallied 70 points (36-34-70) in 98 games played over three seasons.

Also considered for the award this week, Spitfires teammate and Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas posted a goal and four assists in the victories. OHL Rookie of the Week Carson Harmer of the Saginaw Spirit was also a standout, recording five points (3-2-5) in two contests.

Colts’ Ben Hrebik Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .958 save percentage in a pair of outings.

Hrebik backstopped the Colts to consecutive wins over the North Bay Battalion, turning aside 39 of the 41 shots that came his way on Saturday to earn first star honours in a 5-2 win. Hrebik returned between the pipes on Sunday in North Bay, making 29 saves as the Colts closed out the Battalion with a 3-1 victory.

The 18-year-old from Milton, Ont. has appeared in 15 games with the Colts this season, posting a 11-2-1-0 record, along with a league-best 1.96 goals-against average and .942 save percentage. Spirit’s Carson Harmer Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Saginaw Spirit forward Carson Harmer is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording three goals, two assists and five points in two games played.

Harmer picked up a pair of assists on Saturday as Saginaw fell 4-3 to the Sarnia Sting. He returned to the scoresheet on Sunday, registering his first career OHL hat-trick to earn first star honours in a 6-3 win over the Niagara IceDogs.

A 17-year-old from St. Mary’s, Ont., Harmer leads OHL rookies with 25 points (14-11–25) through his first 35 OHL contests after being selected by the Spirit in the third round (44th overall) of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. Harmer spent the 2023-24 season with the Stratford Warriors of the GOJHL, tallying 65 points (28-37-65) in 46 games played to be named to the GOJHL All-Rookie Team.

Also considered for the award this week, Spirit teammate Jacob Cloutier also had a strong showing with a pair of goals and an assist.

IceDogs’ Ryan Roobroeck Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Ryan Roobroeck of the Niagara IceDogs is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering four goals, five assists and nine points over three road wins.

Roobroeck helped the IceDogs go a perfect 3-0 in northern Ontario, starting off the week with a career-high five-point performance, recording a hat trick and two assists in a 7-3 win over the North Bay Battalion to earn first star honours on Thursday. Roobroeck’s natural hat-trick scored in a span of 5:12 established a new IceDogs franchise mark for the fastest three goals by one player. He contributed again on Friday, adding an assist in an 8-4 victory over the Soo Greyhounds. Roobroeck capped off the weekend with a goal and two assists on Sunday to earn third star honours, helping secure a 6-3 win against the Sudbury Wolves.

A 17-year-old from London, Ont., Roobroeck has tallied a club-leading 47 points (24-23-47) in 31 games this season. Selected second overall by Niagara in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-4, 190lb. left-winger has recorded 98 points (52-46–98) in 94 career regular season games. Roobroeck was named to the 2023-24 OHL First All-Rookie team after recording 51 points (28-23-51) in 63 games played with the IceDogs last season. He will be eligible for the NHL Draft in 2026.

Also given consideration for the award this week, IceDogs teammate Ethan Czata also registered nine points (5-4-9) in the three victories, while Winnipeg Jets prospect Kieron Walton of the Sudbury Wolves recorded two goals, six assists and eight points in three games played.

Bulldogs’ Ryerson Leenders Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Buffalo Sabres prospect Ryerson Leenders of the Brantford Bulldogs is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 3-0-0-0 along with a 2.27 goals-against average, and a .931 save percentage.

Turning aside 94 shots last week, Leenders made 30 of those stops in a 6-5 overtime win against the Brampton Steelheads on Wednesday. He returned to the crease on Friday, making 31 saves in a 2-1 overtime victory against the Barrie Colts, earning first-star honours. Leenders wrapped up the week in dominant fashion on Sunday, turning aside 33 of 34 shots in a commanding 10-1 win over the Kingston Frontenacs.

An 18-year-old from Nanticoke, Ont., Leenders is 8-8-1-0 on the season, with a 3.47 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in 17 games played. The former second-round (32nd overall) pick by Mississauga in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection is now in his third OHL season, owning a career mark of 44-40-8-0 with a 3.31 goals-against average, .898 save percentage and three shutouts over 98 regular season games. Leenders was selected in the seventh round (202nd overall) by Buffalo at the 2024 NHL Draft this past summer.

Also considered for the award this week, London Knights netminder Austin Elliott went 2-0-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .929 save percentage to improve to 13-0 on the season, while Edmonton Oilers prospect Nathan Day of the Flint Firebirds was also a standout in the crease, going 2-0-0-0 including a shutout, along with a 1.95 goals-against average and .920 save percentage.

Sting’s Liam Beamish Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Sarnia Sting forward Liam Beamish is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording four goals, three assists and seven points over three contests.

Beamish earned first star recognition in three straight contests. He started the week with two goals on Wednesday, helping the Sting earn a point in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Flint Firebirds. On Friday, he tallied a goal and an assist in a 5-2 victory over the Owen Sound Attack. Beamish wrapped up the weekend scoring a goal and adding two assists in a 6-3 win against the Soo Greyhounds on Sunday.

A 17-year-old forward from Beamsville, Ont., Beamish joined the Sting in late November after starting off the season with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL where he recorded eighth points (4-4-8) in 20 games played. The 5-foot-11, 179lb. centreman spent last season in the GOJHL playing for the Fort Erie Meteors and was also named GOJHL (Golden Horseshoe) Rookie of the Year. Beamish was selected by the Sting in the eighth round (151st overall) of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.

Also considered for the award this week, Lev Katzin of the Guelph Storm contributed three goals and four assists in three contests, while goaltender Jaeden Nelson of the Ottawa 67’s played to a 2-0-0-0 record along with a 2.49 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.

Generals’ Beckett Sennecke Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke of the Oshawa Generals is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering two goals, six assists and eight points over three games played.

Sennecke’s outstanding performance earned him an invitation to Canada’s National Junior Team Development Camp. He got the week started with a goal and four assists, earning second star honours in Wednesday’s 8-4 win over the Ottawa 67’s. On Friday, he added a goal and two assists, claiming first star honours in a 5-3 win against London as the Generals ended the Knights’ 19-game winning streak. Sennecke’s goal on Friday was a goal of the year candidate, seen on highlight reels far and wide.

An 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Sennecke has tallied 44 points (21-23-44) in 26 games this season. Selected eighth overall by Oshawa in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-4, 195lbb. right-winger has recorded 167 points (68-99–167) in 150 career regular season games. He registered 22 points (10-12–22) in 16 playoff games last year, helping the Generals capture the Eastern Conference championship. Sennecke was selected third overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2024 NHL Draft. He heads to Ottawa in a bid to make Canada’s National Junior Team when camp gets underway this week.

Also given consideration for the award this week, 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit registered six points (2-4-6) in two games played. Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas of the Windsor Spitfires was also a standout, tallying three goals, two assists and five points in two contests.

Rangers’ Jackson Parsons Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers is the OHL Goaltender of the Week for the third time this season, going 3-0-0-0 including a shutout, along with a 1.62 goals-against average, and a .943 save percentage.

Turning aside 83 shots last week, Parsons made 23 saves in Tuesday’s 6-3 win over the Brantford Bulldogs. He followed that up on Friday with a 27-save shutout performance, earning first star honours in a 3-0 victory over the Soo Greyhounds. Parsons capped off the week with a 3-2 shootout win over the Windsor Spitfires on Saturday, making 33 saves and three shootout denials to secure second star honours and extend the Rangers’ winning streak to six games.

A  20-year-old from Embrun, Ont., Parsons is 17-5-1-0 on the season, leading all OHL netminders with a 2.05 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and four shutouts over 23 games played. The former third-round (53rd overall) pick by Kitchener in 2020 is now in his fourth OHL season, owning a career mark of 54-37-5-0 with a 3.03 goals-against average, .902 save percentage and eight shutouts over 101 regular season games. Parsons is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Clarkson University next season.

Also considered for the award this week, Detroit Red Wings prospect Landon Miller of the Soo Greyhounds was excellent, going 1-1-0-0 including a shutout with a 1.00 goals-against average and .976 save percentage, while Ben Hrebik of the Barrie Colts was also a standout in the crease, going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .953 save percentage.

Storm’s Lev Katzin Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Guelph Storm forward Lev Katzin is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording two goals, four assists and six points over his first three OHL contests.

Katzin made his OHL debut on Wednesday, recording an assist in the Storm’s 7-4 loss to the Brampton Steelheads. He followed up on Friday with a goal and an assist, earning second star honours in a 4-1 victory over the Owen Sound Attack. Katzin wrapped up the week on Sunday, contributing a goal and two assists in a 5-3 loss to the Peterborough Petes.

A 17-year-old forward from Thornhill, Ont., Katzin joined the Storm in late November after spending the past two seasons with the USHL’s Green Bay Gamblers, where he tallied 39 points (12-27–39) over 66 games. He was part of the gold medal-winning Team Canada White at the 2023 U17 World Hockey Challenge in Prince Edward Island. During his OHL draft year, Katzin excelled with the GTHL’s Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program and was the Storm’s fifth round (94th overall) selection.

Also considered for the award this week, Joshua Avery of the Brantford Bulldogs contributed a goal and three assists in three contests, while Jaeden Nelson of the Ottawa 67’s played to a 1-1-0-0 record along with a 1.51 goals-against average and .957 save percentage.

OHL Announces Academic Players of the Month for November Presented by Hockley Valley Resort

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced Academic Players of the Month for November, proudly presented by Hockley Valley Resort.

East Division – Brooks Rogowski (Oshawa Generals)
Oshawa Generals rookie forward Brooks Rogowski is the East Division Academic Player of the Month for November. The 16-year-old from Brighton, Mich. is currently excelling in five Grade 11 courses at Gull Lake Virtual and Kalamazoo Community College, maintaining a 78 percent overall average in English, World History, Algebra, American Government, and Health Nutrition.

“Brooks is a conscientious and personable individual who leads by example demonstrating a strong work ethic both on and off the ice,” said Generals Academic Advisor Tom Buchanan.

Oshawa’s second-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, Rogowski has six points (2-4–6) through his first 27 career OHL contests. The 6-foot-6, 214lb. right-winger spent the 2023-24 season at Detroit Catholic Central, tallying 43 points (19-24-43) in 25 appearances.

Central Division – Braidy Wassilyn (Niagara IceDogs)
Niagara IceDogs first-year forward Braidy Wassilyn is the Central Division Academic Player of the Month for November. Wassilyn has achieved high standing in Grade 11 studies at Governor Simcoe Secondary School, earning a 100 percent average in Physical Activity, 98 percent average in Sociology/Anthropology/Psychology and 90 percent average in American History.

“Braidy is an excellent young man both on and off the ice. He currently maintains a 96% in his Grade 11 courses. He is an excellent role model for other student athletes due to his strong work ethic and commitment to his studies. Moreover, he displays character and maturity beyond his 16 years,” said IceDogs Academic Advisor, Tim Tope.

Selected fourth overall by the IceDogs last spring, the 16-year-old from Campbellville, Ont. has registered three goals, 17 assists and 20 points in 20 games played so far this season. The 5-foot-11, 194lb. centreman collected 62 points (31-31-62) in 32 games played with the Markham Majors U16 AAA program during the 2023-24 season.

Midwest Division – Andrew MacNiel (Kitchener Rangers)
Kitchener Rangers blueliner Andrew MacNiel is the Midwest Division Academic Player of the Month for November. MacNiel is currently achieving outstanding grades in three university-level courses, including grade 12 Advanced Functions, Biology and Sports Analytics at TPH Academy in partnership with Virtual High School and Blyth Academy where he was also named one of two “Impact Players of the Month” in November.

“Within the community, Andrew has also taken the initiative to represent the Kitchener Rangers organization, having already attended four community events, including the KW Kids with Cancer Run, two appearances at The Child Witness Centre and joining a U10 AAA Kitchener Jr. Rangers practice,” said Rangers Academic Advisor, Dave Tennant.

“Ranger Management and school staff all agree that Andrew is a very personable young man who is not only focused on his own academic work, but is quick to jump in to assist others, a true leader in every sense of the word,” he added.

The 17-year old Cobourg, Ont. native was selected in the fourth round (70th overall) by Kitchener in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection from the Peterborough Pete’s AAA U16 program and has registered two assists in 15 games played for the Rangers this season. MacNiel appeared in five games with Kitchener during 2023-24, spending the majority of the season with the Fort Erie Meteors of the GOJHL.

West Division – Hughston Hurt (Sarnia Sting)
Sarnia Sting second-year defenceman Hughston Hurt is the West Division Academic Player of the Month. The 17-year-old from Oakland Township, Mich. is achieving a 95 percent average across five Grade 12 courses at Stoney Creek Michigan Online school, learning English Literature, English Composition and Language, Financial Mathematics, Mathematics Models and Applications, and United States Government and Politics.

“Hughston has been excelling both in the classroom and on the ice, earning a spot on the NHL watch list for the 2025 Draft. Since joining Sarnia, he has demonstrated an impressive ability to balance the demands of academics and hockey. With his positive attitude, quiet leadership, and disciplined approach, he has become an excellent ambassador for the Sting organization. Both the school and the team are proud to nominate Hughston for this award,” said Sting Academic Advisor Todd Whitlock.

A fourth round pick of the Sting from the Detroit Little Caesars 15U AAA program, the 6-foot-1, 178lb. blueliner was the recipient of the Sting’s Rookie of the Year Award for the 2023-24 season, registering 10 assists in 67 games played. Hurt was named part of the Sting’s Leadership group for 2024-25, and has recorded one goal, five assists and six points in 28 contest this season.

A total of 331 graduates utilized their OHL Scholarship at post-secondary institutions across North America during the 2023-24 academic year, with a total contribution by teams of over $3.9 million. Over the past 10 seasons, OHL Scholarship payments have totaled more than $25 million.

A total of 194 OHL Alumni were included on U SPORTS men’s hockey rosters to open the 2024-25 season

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced Top Performers of the Month for November 2024.


Player and Defenceman of the Month – Sam Dickinson (London Knights)
San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the London Knights has been named the OHL Player and Defenceman of the Month for November. He registered six goals, 19 assists, and 25 points, along with a plus/minus rating of plus-12 in 13 games played. Dickinson ranks first among OHL defencemen and third overall in OHL points this season, with 15 goals, 30 assists, and 45 points in 24 games. He recorded at least one point in 12 of his 13 November outings, including a career-high six-point performance on November 23 with a goal and five assists in a 6-5 win over the Saginaw Spirit. Dickinson also netted his second hat trick of the season on November 8 in a 6-2 victory over the North Bay Battalion, earning Player of the Week honours.

An 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Dickinson was formerly selected fourth overall by the Niagara IceDogs in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-3, 210Ib. left-shot blueliner has recorded 138 points (42-96–138) over 154 career regular season contests in London. He put up 13 points (4-9–13) over 18 games in last year’s playoffs as the Knights were crowned OHL champions. Dickinson was selected by the San Jose Sharks with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Also considered for November’s Player of the Month Award, 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit registered 22 points (7-15-22) in 11 games, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Nick Lardis of the Brantford Bulldogs tallied 13 goals and 13 assists (13-13-26) in 14 games, while recent University of Vermont commit Cedrick Guindon of the Kingston Frontenacs was also a standout, recording 23 points (10-13-23) in 13 contests.

Also considered for November’s Defenceman of the Month Award, Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit registered 17 points (5-12-17) in 10 games, while 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Matthew Schaefer of the Erie Otters also performed, tallying five goals, 10 assists and 15 points with a plus/minus rating of plus-16 in 11 contests.


Goaltender of the Month – Jackson Parsons (Kitchener Rangers)
Kitchener Rangers goaltender Jackson Parsons has been named the OHL Goaltender of the Month for November. Making 230 saves throughout the month, Parsons posted a 5-3-0-0 record, a 1.26 goals-against average, .958 save percentage, and three shutouts. He currently leads the OHL with a 2.12 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage, and a 14-5-1-0 record through 20 games this season. The fourth-year veteran was a standout in November, making 30+ saves in four outings and earning shutouts on November 8, 17, and 23. Parsons was also named OHL Goaltender of the Week twice during the month. He became the first OHL player to commit to an NCAA DI hockey program this season, heading to Clarkson University for 2025-26.

A 20-year-old native of Embrun, Ont., Parsons boasts a career record of 51-37-5-0 with a 3.07 goals-against average, a .900 save percentage, and seven shutouts in 98 regular season appearances with the Rangers. Standing at 6-foot-2 and 202lb., Parsons was selected by Kitchener in the third round (53rd overall) of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection from the Cornwall Colts U18 AAA program.

Also considered for the award this month, Aleksei Medvedev of the London Knights was impressive, compiling a perfect 6-0-0-0 record with a 1.98 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage, and one shutout.


Rookie of the Month – Aleksei Medvedev (London Knights)
London Knights goaltender Aleksei Medvedev has been named the OHL Rookie of the Month for November after an outstanding performance. The first-year netminder posted a perfect 6-0-0-0 record, including his first OHL shutout on November 28 with 31 saves. He finished the month with a 1.98 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage, and five 30+ save performances, contributing to the Knights’ ongoing 18-game win streak. This season, Medvedev holds an 11-2-0-0 record, a 2.64 goals-against average, and a .918 save percentage, ranking fourth in save percentage and fifth in GAA among OHL goaltenders. Medvedev earned multiple accolades in November, being named OHL Goaltender of the Week once and OHL Rookie of the Week on two occasions.

The 17-year-old from St. Petersburg, Russia was selected by London in the second round (38th overall) of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-3, 180Ib. netminder was recently listed as a C-rated prospect on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch list for the 2025 NHL Draft.

Also considered for the award this month, Saginaw Spirit forward Dimian Zhilkin had nine points (5-4–9) in 12 games played. Ottawa 67’s goaltender Jaeden Nelson was also a standout, playing to a 3-0-0-2 record along with a 2.29 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.
