DICKINSON, OKE AND STEVENS NAMED OHL TOP PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK

Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League today announced Top Performers of the Week for the week of regular season games ending Sunday, November 10, 2024.



Knights’ Sam Dickinson Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the London Knights is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, registering four goals, four assists and eight points over three games played.

Dickinson kicked off the week with a goal and an assist, earning first star honours in Wednesday’s 5-1 win over the Soo Greyhounds. He continued his strong play on Friday, scoring a hat trick and again claiming first star honours in a 6-2 victory against the North Bay Battalion. Dickinson rounded out the week with three assists on Saturday, contributing to a thrilling 8-7 road win over the Guelph Storm.

An 18-year-old from Toronto, Dickinson leads the Knights in scoring, and ranks first among all OHL blueliners in goals and points with 25 (11-14–25) over 15 games. Formerly a fourth overall pick by the Niagara IceDogs in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-3, 200Ib. left-shot blueliner has recorded 118 points (38-80–118) over 145 career regular season contests in London. He put up 13 points (4-9–13) over 18 games in last year’s playoffs as the Knights were crowned OHL champions. Dickinson was selected by the San Jose Sharks with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Also given consideration for the award this week, 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa registered four goals and three assists (4-3-7) as the Saginaw Spirit earned four points last week. Philadelphia Flyers prospect Jett Luchanko of the Guelph Storm was also a standout, tallying seven points (2-5-7) in three games played.

Spirit’s Andrew Oke Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Andrew Oke of the Saginaw Spirit is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average, and a .957 save percentage.

Oke stopped 67 shots last week, helping the Spirit secure four of a possible six points. Oke made 34 saves in Saturday’s 5-1 win over the Windsor Spitfires, earning second star honours to record his 60th career victory and pass Tristan Lennox as the fifth-winningest goaltender in Spirit history. He returned to the net Sunday afternoon, stopping 33 of 35 shots in a 7-2 victory against the Flint Firebirds.

A 20-year-old from Shelby Township, MI., Oke holds a 9-6-1-0 record this season with a 3.20 goals-against average and .898 save percentage over 16 games. His 955 minutes played currently lead the OHL. Drafted in the fifth round (89th overall) by Saginaw in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-2, 190lb. netminder is in his fourth OHL season, with a career record of 61-42-4-0, a 3.57 goals-against average, .879 save percentage, and two shutouts in 117 regular season games played. A 2024 Memorial Cup champion with the Spirit, Oke boasts a 5-0-0-0 playoff record, with a 1.83 goals-against average, .938 save percentage, and a shutout. He attended Boston Bruins training camp as a free-agent invite this past summer.

Also considered for the award this week, Erie Otters netminder Noah Erliden went 2-1-0-0 with a 2.28 goals-against average and .923 save percentage including a shutout, while Zach Bowen helped the Peterborough Petes earn their first win of the season, playing to a 1-1-0-1 record along with a 2.28 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.

Storm’s Carter Stevens Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Guelph Storm forward Carter Stevens is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording a goal and three assists over three contests.

Stevens opened up the week with an assist on Wednesday night, contributing to the Storm’s 4-1 road win over the Brantford Bulldogs. He was back on the scoresheet Friday, scoring a goal in a 7-4 victory over the Erie Otters. Stevens wrapped up the week with a two-point performance on Sunday, adding two assists in an 8-7 loss to the London Knights.

A 16-year-old from Almonte, Ont., Stevens has recorded nine points (3-6–9) through his first 16 games of the season. The 6-foot-1, 184Ib. centreman was selected by Guelph in the second round, 35th overall of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Ottawa Valley Titans U16 AAA program.

Also considered for the award this week, Noah Read helped the London Knights earn six points, registered two goals and an assist. Storm teammate Danill Skvortsov was also a standout, tallying a goal and two assists last week.

Greyhounds’ Marco Mignosa Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Marco Mignosa of the Soo Greyhounds is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering four goals, four assists and eight points over three road games.

Mignosa’s eight points led the league as he started off fast, scoring two goals and adding an assist on Wednesday to earn second star honours in the Greyhounds’ 3-1 win over the Windsor Spitfires. He followed up with another goal on Friday despite a close 4-3 loss to the London Knights. On Saturday, Mignosa tied his career-high with a four-point performance, contributing a goal and three assists to help the Greyhounds secure a 4-0 victory over the Flint Firebirds.

A 19-year-old right-winger from Vaughan, Ont., Mignosa has skated in five games with the Greyhounds this season, tallying five goals, six assists and 11 points. Selected by Sault Ste. Marie in the second round (36th overall) at the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, the 5-foot-11, 170lb. forward has tallied 126 points (50-76-126) in 185 regular season games over four seasons.

Also given consideration for the award this week, defenceman Cameron Reid helped the Kitchener Rangers earn six points last week, registering seven points (2-5-7) in three games played. Fellow NHL Draft-eligible prospect Porter Martone of the Brampton Steelheads was also a standout, recording four goals, three assists and seven points over three games played.

Rangers’ Jackson Parsons Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average, and a .952 save percentage.

Parsons turned aside 60 shots last week as the Rangers extended their current winning streak to nine games. He made 21 saves in Tuesday’s 6-1 win over the Sarnia Sting, before returning between the pipes on Sunday afternoon, stopping 39 of the 41 shots he faced in a 4-2 win against the Saginaw Spirit.

A soon-to-be 20-year-old from Embrun, Ont., Parsons is 9-2-1-0 on the season with a 2.73 goals-against average and .905 save percentage over 12 games. The former third round (53rd overall) pick by Kitchener in 2020 is now in his fourth OHL season, owning a career mark of 46-34-5-0 with a 3.24 goals-against average, .896 save percentage and four shutouts over 90 regular season games.

Also considered for the award this week, Windsor Spitfires netminder Joey Costanzo went 2-1-0-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average and .948 save percentage including a shutout, while Noah Erliden of the Erie Otters was also a standout in the crease, going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .940 save percentage including a shutout.

Knights’ Aleksei Medvedev Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Aleksei Medvedev is the OHL Rookie of the Week after a standout 1-0 performance last week.

Medvedev made 38 saves in Sunday’s 2-1 road win over the Owen Sound Attack, earning his fifth OHL win with a 0.94 goals-against average and a .974 save percentage.

The 17-year-old from Vaughan, Ont., has appeared in nine games with the Knights this season, posting a 5-2-0-0 record, along with a 2.89 goals-against average, and .912 save percentage. The 6-foot-1, 164Ib. netminder was selected by London in the second round (38th overall) of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. Medvedev was recently listed as a C-rated prospect in NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch list for the 2025 NHL Draft.

OHL Writers Draft Eligible Players of the Month: October

Each Ontario Hockey League season, we make our selections for forward of the month, defenceman of the month and goaltender of the month among the league’s players eligible for the NHL Entry Draft. Now that the month of October is behind us, let’s take a look at our choices.

Forward of the Month – Michael Misa – Saginaw Spirit

Misa appeared in 10 games for the Spirit in October and scored 10 goals while adding 8 assists in those games. Only one of those goals came with the man advantage while another came while down a man. He never managed less than 3 SOG and had a high of 9 SOG on October 26 against the London Knights. Misa was named the OHL’s player of the month for October.

Also considered was Porter Martone of the Brampton Steelheads. Martone appeared in 9 games and scored 11 goals and added 8 assists. He was only held off the scoresheet once on October 12 against the Barrie Colts. Martone was runner up to Misa for the OHL’s player of the month.

Defenceman of the Month – Cameron Reid – Kitchener Rangers

Reid appeared in 12 games in October and scored 3 goals and adding 10 assists to lead all draft eligible defencemen. Five of his games were multi point games and he was a minus player in just 3 games in October.

Also considered were Jack Brauti of the Niagara IceDogs with 1 goal and 7 assists in 11 games and Mitch Young of the Sarnia Sting with 2 goals and 6 assists in 13 games.

Goaltender of the Month – Joey Costanzo – Windsor Spitfires

Costanzo appeared in 8 games and went 7-1-0-0 in those games while stopping 190 of 201 shots he faced for a save percentage of .945 and a goals-against average of 1.63. He was named the OHL’s goaltender of the month for October.

Also considered was Noah Erliden of the Erie Otters who played in 7 games with a 4-1-1-9 record. He stopped 239 of 256 shots he faced for a .934 save percentage. 

GREENTREE, COSTANZO AND DI IORIO NAMED OHL TOP PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK

Spitfires’ Liam Greentree Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week

Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree of the Windsor Spitfires is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, registering four goals, seven assists and 11 points over three contests.

Greentree captained the League-leading Spitfires to a three-win week, scoring once while adding three assists in a 5-2 win over the Oshawa Generals on Monday to earn first star honours. Greentree tallied another four-point (1-3-4) showing on Friday, defeating the Guelph Storm 4-1. Greentree closed out the week with a pair of goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday, boosting the Spitfires to an 8-1-1-0 record on the season.

An 18-year-old left-winger from Oshawa, Ont., Greentree leads all OHL players in points this season with six goals, 17 assists, and 23 points (6-17-23) in nine games. Drafted 26th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2024 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-3, 216lb. forward has tallied 158 points (67-91-158) in 134 regular season games for Windsor. He was selected by the Spitfires in the second round, 34th overall, of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.

Also given consideration for the award this week, Spitfires teammate and Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas played a big role in Windsor’s six-point week, registering three goals, four assists and seven points. Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit was also a standout, with seven points (3-4—7) over three games played.

Spitfires’ Joey Costanzo Named OHL Goaltender of the Week

Joey Costanzo of the Windsor Spitfires is the OHL Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season, going 3-0 along with a 1.33 goals-against average and .947 save percentage.

Stopping 71 of the 75 shots he faced last week, Costanzo turned aside 15 of the 17 shots that came his way in a 5-2 win over the Oshawa Generals on Monday. The 6-foot-1, 174lb. netminder was back in the crease on Friday, stopping 32 of the 33 shots he faced as the Spitfires defeated the Guelph Storm 4-1. Costanzo closed out a perfect weekend with a 4-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday, turning aside 24-of-25 shots. The Spitfires currently lead the OHL standings with an 8-1-1-0 record this season.

A 19-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Costanzo ranks second among all OHL goaltenders with a .932 save percentage and 2.00 goals-against average this season with a league-leading eight wins. Originally drafted by the Niagara IceDogs in the second round (23rd overall) of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, Costanzo has played to a 49-39-2-3 record including two shutouts over 104 regular season games split between the IceDogs and the Spitfires, with a career save percentage of .881 and a 4.02 goals-against average.

Also considered or the award this week, Charlie Schenkel of the Soo Greyhounds went 1-1-0-0, making 70 saves last week. Noah Erliden of the Erie Otters was also a standout, going 1-1-0-0 with 62 saves.

Sting’s Alessandro Di Iorio Named OHL Rookie of the Week

Sarnia Sting forward Alessandro Di Iorio is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording five assists over three contests.

Di Iorio helped the Sting earn five of a possible six points with a pair of wins followed by a shootout loss. He contributed a pair of assists in Thursday’s 3-1 win over the North Bay Battalion. Di Iorio helped the Sting earn their second win of the weekend against the Sudbury Wolves on Friday, registering two helpers to earn second star honours in the 5-1 victory. The Sting closed out their road trip with a 5-4 shootout loss to the Soo Greyhounds on Sunday as Di Iorio recorded another assist.

A 16-year-old centreman from Vaughan, Ont., Di Iorio ranks seventh among all rookie point-getters, tallying seven points (2-5—7) through his first 11 OHL contests. The Sting selected Di Iorio second overall in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Vaughan Kings U16 AAA program.

Also considered for the award this week were Ottawa 67’s teammates Filip Ekberg (1-4-5) and Kohyn Eshkawkogan (1-2-3), despite the team falling short in three games over the weekend.
