Blazers’ Connor Ingram named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Connor Ingram of the Kamloops Blazers is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 6 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.33 and save percentage of .969.

Ingram made 124 saves in three games last week backstopping the Blazers to three straight wins as the club battles for playoff positioning in the WHL’s Western Conference.  He earned first star honours in all three games beginning Wednesday night where he stopped 27 shots to record his fourth shutout of the season in a 5-0 victory over the Spokane Chiefs.  Ingram then won back-to-back games against the Kelowna Rockets including Friday night before a national Sportsnet audience with a career-high 53 saves to help the Blazers preserve a 3-2 win, followed by a 44-save performance on Saturday night in another 3-2 win.  The Blazers currently hold the first of two Western Conference Wildcard spots with a 32-25-5-4 record.

An 18-year-old from Imperial, SK, Ingram is playing in his second WHL season with the Blazers and currently carries a record of 29-15-5-4 with a goals-against-average of 2.69 and save percentage of .921.  The 1997-born netminder is eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft and was listed 12th among North American goaltenders by NHL Central Scouting in January’s Midterm Rankings.

Also considered for the award this week was 2016 NHL Draft prospect Tyler Parsons of the London Knights who made 55 saves while posting a 2-0-0-0 record along with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .965.  In the QMJHL, Alex Bishop backstopped the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 2-0-0-0 record making 38 saves while posting a goals-against-average of 0.66 and save percentage of .974.
