As the 2025 NHL Entry Draft approaches, one name to keep an eye on is Cameron Reid. This young defenseman from Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League is drawing the attention of scouts and hockey fans alike. I will delve into Reid’s background, his strengths and areas for improvement, and what makes him a prospect worth considering for the upcoming draft.

Background

Cameron Reid, born on April 8, 2007, in Aylmer, Ontario, stands at 6 feet tall and weighs 175 pounds. He plays as a left-handed defenseman for the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL. Despite his relatively modest size for an NHL defenseman, Reid’s mobility, puck-handling, and ability to dictate play make him a legitimate prospect.

Strengths

Skating: Reid’s smooth stride and quick acceleration allow him to move the puck up the ice effectively and close gaps defensively. His edge work and lateral mobility make him highly effective at evading pressure and creating space, particularly at the offensive blue line. His ability to transition quickly from defense to offense make him a modern two-way defenseman.

Offense: Reid demonstrates excellent vision and hockey IQ and passing abilities that lead to scoring chances. He can quarterback the power play, using deception and footwork to find shooting lanes or distribute pucks to teammates. His ability to read and anticipate plays allows him to jump into the rush and make himself an option.

Defense: While not overly physical, Reid uses his mobility and active stick to disrupt plays and maintain strong positional defense while keeping his gaps very tight. He more than his share of puck battles. He is calm under pressure and more often than not makes the right play to escape the zone and transition to offense.

Hockey IQ and Awareness: Reid processes the game at a high level, showing patience and poise in his decision-making. His anticipation is excellent and at times seems to know what the opposition is going to do before they know.

Areas for Improvement

Physical Play: While Reid does not shy away from contact, his physicality along the boards and in front of the net could improve. Adding strength and learning to use his body more effectively will help him handle larger, more physical forwards at the professional level.

Defensive Intensity and Containment: Reid relies on his mobility too much and when he develops more strength it would benefit him to have a more aggressive game along the walls and in front of his net.

Shooting Efficiency: While Reid’s playmaking abilities are impressive, improving his shooting efficiency will make him an even more dangerous offensive threat.

Conclusion

Cameron Reid’s blend of high-level skating, hockey IQ, and offensive instincts, combined with his solid defensive reliability, make him a highly attractive prospect for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. While there are areas for improvement, his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses, and with continued development, Reid has the potential to become a player in the NHL. Keep an eye on this young defenseman as he continues to make impressions in the hockey world.

Scouting Report

Brzustewicz is a right-handed defenseman known for his strong 200-foot game. Standing at 6’1″ and weighing 194 lbs, he possesses the physical attributes necessary for a successful career in the NHL. Here are some key aspects of his game:

Skating: Brzustewicz is an excellent skater with smooth strides and agility. His ability to move quickly and efficiently on the ice allows him to cover a lot of ground and make crucial defensive plays.

Offensive Skills: He has a heavy one-timer and a powerful point shot, which makes him a threat on the power play. He also has a knack for getting his shots through. His offensive instincts are sharp, and he can create scoring opportunities for his team.

Defensive Skills: Brzustewicz is a reliable defenseman who excels in his own zone. He has a strong positional sense and can effectively shut down opposing forwards. His ability to read the game and make smart decisions under pressure is commendable.

Physicality: With his size and strength, Brzustewicz is not afraid to engage in physical battles. He can deliver solid checks and protect his goaltender, making him a valuable asset on the blue line.

Hockey IQ: His understanding of the game is advanced for his age. Brzustewicz can anticipate plays and react accordingly. It is a bona-fide asset.

Bloodlines

Henry Brzustewicz comes from a family with a strong hockey background. His brother, Hunter Brzustewicz, is also a talented defenseman who plays for the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL. Hunter was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The Brzustewicz brothers have both shown exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.

Conclusion

Henry Brzustewicz is undoubtedly a player to watch as the 2025 NHL Draft approaches. With his skill set, physical attributes, and strong hockey bloodlines, he has the potential to make an impact in the NHL. PETERBOROUGH TO HOST 2026 CONNOR MCDAVID OHL TOP PROSPECTS GAME PRESENTED BY ENBRIDGE GAS

Toronto, ON – After setting a high bar with skill on display, plenty of physicality and a thrilling overtime finish before a capacity crowd last month in Brantford, the Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game presented by Enbridge Gas comes to Peterborough in 2026, the home of the league’s longest continuously operating franchise.

Opening its doors with the advent of the Petes in 1956, the Peterborough Memorial Centre is one of the OHL’s iconic venues and will host next year’s event on Wednesday January 14, 2026.

The inaugural showcase brought close to 200 NHL scouts out to see the Ontario Hockey League’s rising stars on display in an East vs. West format, one decided in favour of the Eastern Conference on an overtime goal by Peterborough’s own Porter Martone of the Brampton Steelheads.

“I’ve heard so much positive feedback from folks across the league, colleagues with the National Hockey League, our great fans and the players themselves on this exciting event,” said OHL Commissioner Bryan Crawford. “Brantford was a great spot to launch, and Peterborough presents a tremendous opportunity for the league to build upon that foundation and take this event to the next level.”

Featuring a hometown star eligible for the 2026 NHL Draft in third overall 2024 OHL Priority Selection choice Colin Fitzgerald, the Petes are eager to welcome fans, scouts and the OHL community to the Liftlock City next January.

“We’re very excited to be co-hosting the 2026 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects game with the City of Peterborough at the Peterborough Memorial Centre,” noted Petes General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke. “This is a great opportunity for our fans to see some of the top prospects for the 2026 NHL Draft up close as they face-off against each other. We’re also looking forward to hosting fans from all across Ontario, as we know this game will be embraced by the entire OHL community. This provides us with an excellent opportunity to showcase the City of Peterborough and the Peterborough Memorial Centre. We will be announcing some special events in the future that will be sure to make the experience for both fans and participants a memorable one.”

Winners of 10 OHL championships including one as recently as 2023, the Petes are part of Peterborough’s community fabric and identity, inspiring on the ice, but also through charitable initiatives such as their annual Pink in the Rink campaign that recently raised $45,153 for Pedal for Hope, a part of Cops for Cancer at the Canadian Cancer Society.

The franchise that produced such names as Steve Yzerman, Chris Pronger, Bob Gainey and Eric and Jordan Staal has the entire city of Peterborough excited about what’s to come.

“Peterborough is home to one of Ontario’s most passionate hockey communities,” said Jeff Leal, Mayor of the City of Peterborough. “We are pleased to welcome the OHL Top Prospects Game to our city – an excellent opportunity to showcase our facilities, and our love for the game on a national stage. This event will be an inspiring one for future hockey stars, players and fans and will generate positive economic impact for local businesses and community members. We look forward to working with the Peterborough Petes, the OHL, and our local hockey community to create a memorable experience for all.”

Peterborough Petes season ticket holders will have first access to securing tickets for the Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game.  Other special events planned around the game will be announced this fall.

As the 2025 NHL Entry Draft approaches, scouts and draft enthusiasts are keeping a close eye on emerging talents. One name to watch out for Brady Martin, a dynamic and versatile player who has been making waves in the Ontario Hockey League. Here, I delve into Martin’s journey, his playing style, and his potential impact in the NHL.

Early Career and Development

Martin began his journey with the Waterloo Wolves U-16 team, where he showcased his exceptional skills and hockey IQ. During his OHL Draft year in 2023, Martin was the standout player, amassing an impressive 85 points in 34 games between the regular season and playoffs. His performance in the OHL Cup further solidified his reputation, as he led his team with eight goals and 12 points in six games1.

Playing Style and Strengths

Martin is known for his physicality and relentless work ethic. Standing at 6’0″ and weighing 176 lbs, he is a formidable presence on the ice. His ability to dominate in all three zones makes him a valuable asset to any team. Martin’s playing style is characterized by his aggressive forechecking, strong puck possession, and willingness to engage in physical battles. He describes himself as a power forward and one can only imagine his physical dominance only getting better as he bulks up.

One of Martin’s standout qualities is his versatility. He can play both center and right wing, providing flexibility to his coaches while also excelling in all situations. His offensive upside is evident in his ability to create scoring opportunities and his knack for finding the back of the net. Despite not always putting up eye-popping numbers, Martin’s contributions away from the puck make him a first-round threat.

What Others Are Saying

According to various scouting reports, Martin’s combination of skill and compete level is what sets him apart. Corey Pronman of The Athletic highlights Martin’s “true hardness” in his game, noting his ability to attack high-percentage areas and his physicality. Sam Cosentino of Sportsnet emphasizes the importance of multiple viewings to fully appreciate Martin’s game, as his ranking has grown with his consistent play.

Hannah Stuart of Bleacher Report praises Martin’s involvement in every aspect of the game, describing him as a player who “doesn’t quit”. Steven Ellis of Daily Faceoff points out that while Martin’s points may not always jump off the page, his play away from the puck and his goal-scoring ability make him an intriguing prospect.

It’s difficult to argue with any of them as it is all true.

Recent Performance and Impact

In the 2024-2025 OHL season, Martin has continued to impress. Through 44 games with the Soo Greyhounds, he has recorded 25 goals and 25 assists, leading his team in goals and second in points. His performance at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the U-17s further demonstrated his ability to make an impact on the international stage.

Conclusion

Brady Martin’s journey to the 2025 NHL Entry Draft is a testament to his willingness to play on both sides of the puck and his pursuit of success and winning. As a versatile and physical player with a strong hockey IQ, he has the potential to make an impact in the NHL. Teams looking for a player who can contribute in all facets of the game should keep a close eye on Martin as the draft approaches.

As the 2025 NHL Draft approaches, one name that has been quietly generating some buzz is Jack Nesbitt. This young center from Sarnia, Ontario, has been making himself notices in the with the Windsor Spitfires. Let’s dive into a detailed scouting report on Jack Nesbitt and his eligibility for the upcoming draft.

Strengths

Size and Physicality: Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 183 lbs, Nesbitt has an imposing physical presence on the ice. His size allows him to shield the puck effectively and win battles along the boards.

Skating: Despite his size, Nesbitt is an agile skater with good speed, acceleration and impressive edge work. His ability to move quickly and change directions makes him a versatile player in both offensive and defensive situations.

Hockey IQ: Nesbitt possesses a high hockey IQ, which is evident in his decision-making and positioning. He reads the game well and anticipates plays, allowing him to be in the right place at the right time.

Playmaking: Nesbitt is a skilled playmaker with excellent vision. He can set up his teammates with precise passes and create scoring opportunities. His ability to see the ice and make quick decisions is a valuable asset. He has also demonstrated that he can slow down the game to give his teammates the opportunity to get into position.

Defensive Responsibility: Nesbitt is not just an offensive threat; he is also responsible defensively. He backchecks diligently and is effective in the faceoff circle, making him a reliable two-way center. He is very adept in taking away lanes with his stick or by getting his body in the way.

Areas for Improvement

Consistency: While Nesbitt has shown flashes of brilliance, he needs to work on maintaining a high level of play consistently throughout the season and sometimes shift to shift. This will be crucial for his development and success at the next level.

Physical Strength: Although he has the height, Nesbitt could benefit from adding more muscle to his frame. Increased physical strength will help him compete more effectively against stronger opponents.

Shot Accuracy: Nesbitt has a powerful shot, but his accuracy needs some work. Improving his shooting accuracy will make him a more dangerous scoring threat.

Jack Nesbitt is eligible for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft for the first time, and he has been ranked by various scouting organizations. However, those rankings have some mixed reviews as he has been ranked at best 17th (TSN/Craig Button) and at worst 4th (THN/Ferrari). Consolidated rankings have him at 33rd, but I believe he is a first-round talent.

Conclusion

Jack Nesbitt is a promising young talent with the potential to make an impact in the NHL. His combination of size, skating ability, hockey IQ, and playmaking skills make him an attractive prospect for teams looking to bolster their center depth. While there are areas for improvement, Nesbitt’s work ethic and dedication to his craft suggest that he will continue to develop and refine his game. As the 2025 NHL Draft approaches, keep an eye on Jack Nesbitt as he aims to take the next step in his hockey career.
