Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the London Knights is the 2024-25 recipient of the Max Kaminsky Trophy, presented annually to the OHL Defenceman of the Year as voted by the League’s General Managers.
Dickinson established a new London Knights single season record for points by a defenceman with 91, including 29 goals and 62 assists along with a league-leading plus/minus rating of plus-64 over 55 games. His 12 power play goals, eight shorthanded points and 245 shots on goal led OHL defencemen.
“It’s such an honour to win this award and to think of all the incredible players to win before me,” said Dickinson. “My family, teammates, coaches and the entire London Knights organization are the first people I’d like to thank in helping me achieve such an incredible honour. I’m looking forward to what’s next for our team in these playoffs.”
Dickinson’s season included a pair of hat-tricks and 13 different outings that featured at least three points, headlined by a six-point showing (1-5–6) on Nov. 23rd at Saginaw. He represented Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
“We knew at 16 that Sam was going to be a special player,” said Knights Vice President and General Manager Mark Hunter. “He has high-end talent and can make plays at both ends of the ice. He is very deserving of this award and we are very proud of what he has accomplished as a London Knight.”
An 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Dickinson joined the Knights after originally being chosen by the Niagara IceDogs with the fourth overall pick of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-3, 210Ib. defender has amassed 56 goals, 128 assists and 184 points over 185 career regular season games on the Knights blueline, accompanied by a plus-126 rating. Accolades have included being named to the OHL’s second all-star team, the league’s first all-rookie team as well as winning gold with Canada at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He was selected 11th overall by San Jose in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Dickinson is the latest in a list of Knights to have won the Max Kaminsky Trophy that includes Evan Bouchard (2019), Danny Syvret (2005), John Erskine (2000), Bob Halkidis (1985), teammates Brad Marsh and Rob Ramage (1978) and Rick Green (1976).
The Max Kaminsky Trophy is awarded each year to the Most Outstanding Defenceman as selected by OHL General Managers. All 20 clubs submitted a nominee but were not permitted to vote for their own player.
The award is named in recognition of Max Kaminsky, who enjoyed a 10-year professional playing career that included four years in the NHL with Ottawa, Boston and Montreal. After he retired from playing, Kaminsky enjoyed a 15-year coaching career that was capped by winning the Memorial Cup with the St. Catharines Teepees in 1960.
Dickinson led the way in the award voting process followed by Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit, who claimed the honour in 2023-24. Pavel Mintyukov (Ottawa, 2022-23) and Nathan Staios (Hamilton, 2021-22) are other recent recipients.
Dickinson will be formally recognized as the OHL Defenceman of the Year at the OHL Awards Ceremony to be held at The Hockey Hall of Fame in June.

TORONTO, ON — The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced today the March edition of the CHL Team of the Month presented by CCM for the 2024-25 regular season (only regular-season games from March were considered).
For a fourth time this season, the most of any player in the CHL during the 2024-25 campaign, 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna of the No.3-ranked Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL) has been named to the CHL Team of the Month. Despite playing in just five regular-season games in March, the 17-year-old from Whitehorse, Yukon, co-led the CHL in scoring with 23 points, having averaged a CHL-best 4.6 points per game during the month. During the Tigers’ 7-3 victory over the Red Deer Rebels on March 15, McKenna established a new single-game career-high by tallying seven points (3G-4A), along with scoring his third hat-trick of 2024-25. McKenna ultimately capped off the 2024-25 regular season by riding a 40-game point streak, which ranks as the second-longest point streak in a single season in the CHL since 2000. The reigning CHL and WHL Rookie of the Year also finished the regular season with nine consecutive games with two or more points, having amassed 32 multi-point outings over his final 40 regular-season contests in 2024-25. Over the year, McKenna registered a CHL-best 88 assists this season, while his 129 points ranked third among all scorers across the Canadian Hockey League. In recognition of his stellar season, McKenna was named a 2024-25 WHL First Team All-Star from the Eastern Conference on Tuesday. Entering Wednesday, through three postseason games in 2025, McKenna leads all skaters in both the WHL and CHL with 11 points (1G-10A), having extended his active point streak to 43 straight games. Taken first overall in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft, the reigning WHL and CHL Rookie of the Year captured gold for Team Canada at both the 2024 IIHF World U18 Championship and the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Earlier this season, at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship, McKenna became the eighth youngest player to ever suit up for Team Canada at a World Juniors. Last season, following the 2023-24 campaign, McKenna was named a member of both the CHL’s Third All-Star and All-Rookie Teams after he registered 97 points in 61 games as a 16-year-old.
Having shared the CHL scoring lead with 23 points in seven regular-season games last month, Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas of the No.10-ranked Windsor Spitfires (OHL) has been selected to the CHL Team of the Month for the first time in his career. Having registered a point in all seven of his appearances in March, the 18-year-old from Vitebsk, Belarus, recorded six multi-point outings, including matching a single-game career-high with five points (0G-5A) against the Sarnia Sting in what was Protas’ final contest of the 2024-25 regular season on March 20. In 61 regular-season games with the Spitfires, Protas amassed 124 points (50G-74A) this season, which ranked second in the OHL and was the fourth most in the CHL in 2024-25. By scoring 50 goals this season, Protas registered the eighth 50-goal season in Spitfires history, joining such names as Matthew Maggio (2022-23), Steve Ott (2000-01), and Ernie Godden (1980-81). The 18-year-old also became the highest goal-scoring import player in the Spitfires’ franchise history. Since February 17, including postseason games, Protas has been one of the hottest skaters in the CHL – recording 13 multi-point games over his last 16 appearances and tallying a CHL-best 48 points (14G-34A) over that stretch. As of Wednesday, through three playoff games in 2025, Protas leads the OHL with eight assists and ranks tied for second among postseason scorers in the OHL with eight points (0G-8A). Drafted third overall by Windsor in the 2024 CHL Import Draft, Protas was chosen in the third round (75th overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2024 NHL Draft last summer.
With a QMJHL-leading 19 points over 10 regular-season games in March, New Jersey Devils prospect Cam Squires of the Cape Breton Eagles (QMJHL) is making his first appearance in the CHL Team of the Month. Over the last month, in his 10 regular-season contests, Squires was held off the scoresheet on just one occasion, registering six multi-point outings, including his second hat-trick of the season on March 22 against the Saint John Sea Dogs. With 13 assists in March, the 19-year-old from Charlottetown, P.E.I., led all QMJHL skaters in that department, and he closed out his 2024-25 regular season by scoring a goal in three straight games. By doing the latter, Squires reached the 100-goal plateau in his QMJHL career. He now sits at 103 goals, 142 assists, and 245 points in 255 career appearances in the regular season over his four-year career in the QMJHL. March has been a particularly good month historically for Squires, who has recorded 70 points in 46 career games during the month. As he closed out 2024-25, the Eagles forward also posted new single-season career highs in assists (51) and points (75) as he led his team in scoring for the second consecutive season. Entering Wednesday, Squires has tallied a pair of assists through three postseason games in the 2025 QMJL Playoffs. Drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the fourth round (122nd overall) of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Squires signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Devils back in July 2024. The 19-year-old was Cape Breton’s second-round pick, 22nd overall, in the 2021 QMJHL Entry Draft. He was named QMJHL Humanitarian of the Year for the 2022-23 season.
Following a month where he led all defencemen in the CHL with 18 points in 10 regular-season games, San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the No.2-ranked London Knights (OHL) has been named to the CHL Team of the Month for the second time during the 2024-25 season. Having registered a point in nine of his 10 appearances to close out the regular season, the 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont., collected six multi-point outings, including a trio of three-point contests on March 5 (1G-2A @ Brantford), March 11 (2G-1A @ Guelph), and March 21 (2G-1A vs. Windsor). Following his strong month, Dickinson wrapped up the 2024-25 campaign with 91 points in 55 games, which sits only behind Saginaw Spirit blueliner Zayne Parekh (107 points) for scoring by a defenceman in the CHL this season. Dickinson’s 91 points in 2024-25 rank as the 10th highest point total by a defenceman in a single season since 2000. The San Jose Sharks prospect also set a new London Knights single-season record for the most points (91) by a blueliner, surpassing the previous mark (87) that was held by Edmonton Oilers rearguard Evan Bouchard (2017-18) and Rick Corriveau (1990-91). Entering Wednesday, Dickinson ranked second among CHL defencemen with seven points (3G-4A) in three playoff games in 2025 – just one point shy of current leader Tyson Jugnauth (9 points) of the Portland Winterhawks. Acquired by the London Knights from the Niagara IceDogs after he was the fourth overall pick of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, Dickinson has gone on to be named to the OHL’s first all-rookie team in 2022-23 and a second team all-star in 2023-24 while winning an OHL championship. He was selected by the San Jose Sharks with the 11th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Draft and he captained Team Red at the 2024 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Moncton, N.B. Earlier this season, Dickinson was one of three London Knights who represented Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. Dickinson previously earned gold for his country at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and he captained Canada Black at the 2022 World U17 Hockey Challenge, where he was voted to the World U17 All-Star Team.
Having shared the scoring lead among WHL defencemen through nine regular-season contests in March, Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio of the No.9-ranked Calgary Hitmen (WHL) is making his first appearance in the CHL Team of the Month in 2024-25. The 19-year-old from Kamloops, B.C., was held off the scoresheet just once over his nine contests to close out the 2024-25 season, as he strung together an eight-game point streak to start the month. With nine assists over those nine games, Mynio led all WHL blueliners in that category during that stretch of time. Over the last five weeks, it seems Mynio has really caught his stride, becoming one of the Hitmen’s most consistent scorers offensively. Specifically, in 15 games (including playoffs) since February 22, Mynio has tallied 17 points (4G-13A) and ranks tied for second on the team in scoring over that stretch. Entering Wednesday, the 19-year-old has three assists in three postseason appearances during the 2025 WHL Playoffs presented by Nutrien. Mynio finished the 2024-25 regular season with 14 goals and 31 assists over the 49 games he played with both the Seattle Thunderbirds and Calgary Hitmen. At the beginning of January, Mynio was acquired by the Hitmen from the Thunderbirds in a trade. Earlier this season, the Vancouver Canucks prospect also represented his country for the first-time at a IIHF event as he suited up for Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa. Drafted by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the third round (63rd overall) of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, Mynio has piled up 39 goals and 101 assists for 140 points and a +63 rating in 227 career regular games in the WHL. The Hitmen rearguard has also played in more than 40 playoff games during his WHL career, having previously won an Ed Chynoweth Cup and participated in the 2023 Memorial Cup with the Seattle Thunderbirds during the 2022-23 campaign.
Holding a perfect 5-0-0-0 record in his five regular-season contests in March, goaltender Mathis Rousseau of the No.1-ranked Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) is making his first appearance in the CHL Team of the Month this season. Over his five starts to cap off the 2024-25 campaign, Rousseau registered a .933 save percentage and a 1.58 goals-against average, the latter of which ranked first among all goalies in the QMJHL (minimum of 75 minutes played). By turning aside 18-of-21 shots on March 1 in a 4-3 victory against the Blainville-Boisbriand, Rousseau secured his 100th career victory in the QMJHL – becoming one of just 18 netminders in the history of the QMJHL to have reached this plateau. Wrapping up the 2024-25 campaign with 104 career wins over his career, Rousseau ranks in a tie for 11th on the all-time wins list in QMJHL history. Including his two playoff starts to date in 2025, the 20-year-old from Boisbriand, Québec, has won eight in a row for the Wildcats, and he has only suffered one loss since the beginning of February. Rousseau completed the 2024-25 season with a 20-20-5-0 record, 2.88 goals-against average, .905 save percentage & two shutouts in 45 games played between both the Halifax Mooseheads and the Moncton Wildcats. Acquired by Moncton from Halifax at the beginning of January, the 20-year-old has posted some impressive numbers with his new club – registering an 11-4-0-0 record, a 2.33 goals-against average, and a pair of shutouts in 15 games with the Wildcats. Just last season, during the 2023-24 campaign, Rousseau was a finalist for the Patrick-Roy Trophy as the QMJHL’s Top Goaltender after he led the league with a save percentage of .925 as a member of the Halifax Mooseheads. Drafted by Halifax in the fourth round (61st overall) of the 2020 QMJHL Entry Draft, Rousseau holds a 2.70 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 170 appearances in the regular season over his four-year QMJHL career. In addition to his success with the Mooseheads in 2023-24, Rousseau also represented Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Player of the Month – Ilya Protas (Windsor Spitfires) Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas of the Windsor Spitfires has been named OHL Player of the Month for March. Protas recorded eight goals, 15 assists, and 23 points in just seven games, registering points in all seven outings, including six multi-point performances. He capped off the month with standout performances, notching four points (3-1-4) on March 15 against the Saginaw Spirit. He then matched his career high with a five-point game on March 20, assisting on all five goals in a 5-0 win over the Sarnia Sting. Protas also earned Player of the Week honours once in March.
An 18-year-old from Vitebsk, Belarus, Protas appeared in 61 games with the Spitfires this season, recording 50 goals, 74 assists, and 124 points, good for second-most in the OHL. Also considered for March’s Player of the Month Award, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan of the London Knights tallied 23 points (8-15-9) in nine games played, while San Jose Sharks prospect Igor Chernyshov of the Saginaw Spirit was also a standout, registering 20 points (7-13-20) in nine contests.
Defenceman of the Month – Sam Dickinson (London Knights) San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the London Knights has been named the OHL Defenceman of the Month for March. Earning this recognition for the second time this season, Dickinson recorded six goals, 12 assists, and 18 points, along with a plus-12 rating over 10 outings. He registered at least one point in nine of his 10 March outings, posting multi-point performances in six, including three-point games on March 11th (2-1-3) and March 21st (2-1-3).
An 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Dickinson led all London Knights in scoring, setting a new single season franchise mark with 91 points (29-62–91) over 55 games. His 29 goals and 91 points were the second-most by a defenceman in the OHL this season. The 6-foot-3, 210Ib. left-shot blueliner has recorded 184 points (56-128–184) over 185 career regular season contests in London after being selected fourth overall by the Niagara IceDogs in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. He put up 13 points (4-9–13) over 18 games in last year’s playoffs as the Knights were crowned OHL champions. Dickinson was selected by the San Jose Sharks with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Also considered for March’s Defenceman of the Month Award, Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit registered 15 points (4-11-15) in seven games, while 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Kashawn Aitcheson of the Barrie Colts also performed well, tallying five goals, eight assists and 13 points in nine contests.
Goaltender of the Month – Austin Elliott (London Knights) London Knights goaltender Austin Elliott has been named the OHL Goaltender of the Month for March.
Making 196 saves throughout the month, Elliott posted a perfect 7-0 record with a 1.70 goals-against average, .942 save percentage, and one shutout. Elliott earned Player of the Week honours once in March, recording three 30+ save performances and a 28-save shutout on March 5.
The 20-year-old from Strathmore, Alberta, has been dominant since joining the Knights, who acquired the overage goaltender from the Barrie Colts after he was claimed off CHL waivers in October. He led the OHL with a 2.10 goals-against average, .924 save percentage, and an impressive 32-1-0-0 record through 33 games as an overager. Elliott entered the OHL after starting his junior career with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades.
Also considered for the award this month, Buffalo Sabres prospect Ryerson Leenders of the Brantford Bulldogs impressed with a 6-2 record, a 2.79 goals-against average, .924 save percentage, and one shutout. Meanwhile, Mike McIvor of the North Bay Battalion posted a 5-2-0-1 record with a 2.92 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage and one shutout. Draft eligible Brampton Steelheads goaltender Jack Ivankovic was also in the running with a 2.36 goals-against average, 5-2-0-1 record and a .910 save percentage.
Rookie of the Month – Filip Ekberg (Ottawa 67’s) Filip Ekberg of the Ottawa 67’s is the Rookie of the Month for March after posting four goals and 11 assists for 15 points over 10 games. Ekberg recorded points in all 10 of his March performances, including four multi-point contests. He set an OHL career high on March 22 with a three-assist game in a 7-1 win over the Erie Otters. Ekberg also earned Rookie of the Week honours to start the month.
A 17-year-old from Uppsala, Sweden, Ekberg recorded 45 points (16-29–45) in 53 games this season. Selected by Ottawa in the first round (33rd overall) of the 2024 CHL Import Draft, he was ranked 136th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the upcoming 2025 NHL Draft. Ekberg has also found success on the international stage, winning a bronze medal with Sweden at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
Also considered for the award this month, Beckham Edwards of the Sarnia Sting registered four goals, six assists and 10 points in 10 games played, while Erie Otters blueliner Lucas Ambrosio also impressed, recording seven points (1-6-7) in 11 contests.

TORONTO, ON — The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced today the November edition of the CHL Team of the Month presented by CCM for the 2024-25 regular season.
Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall of the Kelowna Rockets (WHL) was one of the CHL’s most prolific skaters during the month of November. Having scored 13 times in 12 games, no player in the CHL scored more goals over the last month than Cristall. The 19-year-old from Burnaby, B.C., scored a goal in 10-of-12 games in November, including his first hat trick of the season on November 30 against the Regina Pats (3G-2A). The latter was one of two games in which Cristall registered five points in a single game, having also achieved the feat a week earlier against the Vancouver Giants on November 22 (1G-4A). Averaging a CHL-best 2.58 points per game in November, the 5-foot-10, 183-pound right winger recorded nine multi-point games, including four contests with four points or more for the 2026 Memorial Cup hosts. Cristall capped off the month having extended his current point streak to 15 games. Over that time, the 19-year-old has accrued 40 points (16G-24A) dating back to October 18, which is the lone game this season where Cristall has been held off the scoresheet. His +16 plus/minus rating in November ranked tied for first of any skater in the WHL. The Kelowna Rockets forward currently sits second in the WHL with 47 points, trailing only Medicine Hat’s Gavin McKenna (57 points). Additionally, Cristall is the only player across the CHL to be averaging over 2.5 points per game this season, as he holds a 2.61 points per game average thus far during the 2024-25 campaign. Earlier this week, Cristall was one of 30 players from the CHL to receive an invite to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp.

With 32 points in 13 games, the 16-year-old from Whitehorse, Yukon, led all skaters across the CHL in scoring during November. Having been held off the scoresheet just once over the last month, McKenna registered nine multi-point outings, including six games with three points or more. The latter included a six-point effort (2G-4A) by McKenna on November 1 against the Regina Pats, which matched a single-game career-high for the Tigers left winger. On the other side of November, to cap off the month, the 6-foot, 165-pound forward scored his first hat trick of the season against the Calgary Hitmen on November 30. Including his most recent game in December, McKenna is currently on a 12-game point streak, which is the second-longest active streak in the WHL. McKenna also recorded a +16 plus/minus rating in November, which ranked tied for first among all skaters in the WHL. The 16-year-old is one of just two players in the WHL to be averaging more than two points per game this season, as he currently holds a 2.04 points-per-game average during the 2024-25 campaign. McKenna also leads the CHL in assists and scoring, having recorded 38 helpers and 57 points over 28 games this season. Earlier this week, McKenna was one of 30 players from the CHL to receive an invite to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp.
Along with a strong showing at the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge presented by Kubota Canada, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Justin Carbonneau of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL) had an impressive month of November. Averaging a goal per game over the last month, thanks to his 12 goals in 12 outings, Carbonneau was the QMJHL’s leading goal scorer in November alongside Baie-Comeau’s Justin Poirier. Carbonneau’s 21 points over the last month were also the most of any QMJHL player. The 18-year-old from Lévis, Que., was held off the scoresheet on only one occasion in November, having registered seven contests with two points or more. Carbonneau also scored a goal in seven games last month, which included five outings with two goals. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound right winger capped off November on a six-game point streak, as he accrued 13 points over that stretch and scored a goal in five of those six contests. Thanks in part to the play of Carbonneau, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada went 8-4-0-0 over November having climbed up to eighth in the QMJHL’s overall standings. Following his strong month in November, as of December 5, Carbonneau ranks in a tie for third in the QMJHL with 20 goals. He’s one of just five players in the QMJHL to have topped the 20-goal plateau this season. At the same time, with 42 points in 27 games, the 18-year-old forward trails his teammate Jonathan Fauchon (43 points) by a single point for the scoring lead in the QMJHL. Between November 26-27, Carbonneau registered a point in both games of the 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge presented by Kubota Canada, including the primary assist on Cole Reschny’s series-winning goal against the U.S. National Under-18 Team in Oshawa, Ont. Carbonneau was one of 15 ‘A-rated’ players to have played for the Team CHL in the inaugural CHL USA Prospects Challenge.
Named both the Player and Defenceman of the Month in the OHL for November, San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the No.1-ranked London Knights (OHL) was the most productive defenceman in the CHL over the last month. His 25 points were the most of any blueliner in the CHL, and they trailed only Brantford’s Nick Lardis for the OHL lead in November. Meanwhile, Dickinson’s 19 assists last month were the most of any skater in the OHL, in addition to leading all defencemen in the CHL. The 18-year-old from Toronto, Ont., failed to register a point in only one game in November. In a big 6-5 victory over the Saginaw Spirit on November 23, Dickinson recorded a single-game career-high of six points (1G-5A), having factored in on all six goals by the Knights that night. The San Jose Sharks prospect finished the month with five multi-point outings, and he helped the defending OHL champions to a perfect 13-0-0-0 record in November. As of December 5, the No.1-ranked Knights are currently on the longest active winning streak in the CHL at 19 victories in a row and they lead the CHL with a 23-4-0-0 record. Throughout this season, Dickinson has registered 45 points (15G-30A) to lead all CHL defencemen in goals (15), assists (30), and points (45 points) during the 2024-25 campaign. His 45 points also rank third among all skaters in the OHL, trailing only Brampton’s Porter Martone (50 points) and Saginaw’s Michael Misa (49 points). Earlier this week, Dickinson was one of 30 players from the CHL to receive an invite to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp.
2025 NHL Draft prospect Bryce Pickford of the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL) put together a strong month of November, leading all CHL defencemen with nine goals. With 18 points in 13 games over the last month, the 18-year-old from Chauvin, Alta., led all defencemen in the WHL in scoring. Throughout November, Pickford was only held off the scoresheet on three separate occasions, having recorded five multi-point games. Specifically, at the start of the month on November 1 against the Regina Pats, the 6-foot, 190-pound defenceman tallied a single-game career-high four points (2G-2A) in the Tigers’ dominant 10-5 victory. Pickford closed out the month of November on a seven-game point streak, having collected 11 points (5G-6A) over that stretch. Now up to 29 points in 24 games this season, the 18-year-old currently ranks third in scoring among defencemen in the WHL as of December 5. His 12 goals during the 2024-25 campaign rank as the most of any WHL blueliner and he sits third among defencemen in the CHL. His 12 goals, 17 assists, and 29 points also all rank as career-highs for the Tigers’ rearguard as he plays through his first season in Medicine Hat. Before his time with the Tigers, Pickford spent three seasons in Seattle, where he was part of the Thunderbirds’ squad that won the 2023 WHL Championship and competed in the 2023 Memorial Cup in Kamloops.
As the only goalie in the CHL to have posted three shutouts over the last month, netminder Jackson Parsons of the No.7-ranked Kitchener Rangers (OHL) rounds out the CHL Team of the Month presented by CCM for November. The 20-year-old from Embrun, Ont., posted a 1.26 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage in eight games in November, both of which were the best of any goalie in the CHL last month (min. 2 GP). Parsons had four 30-plus save performances last month, including three straight to cap off November. The Rangers netminder posted shutouts on November 8 against the Greyhounds (20 saves), November 17 against the Sting (20 saves), and November 23 against Erie (33 saves). As of December 5, Parsons ranks first in the OHL in goals-against average (2.16), save percentage (.924), and shutouts (3) among goaltenders during the 2024-25 campaign (minimum 620 minutes played). Over the month of November, Parsons played a big part in the Rangers’ 7-3-1-0 record, having contributed to five of their victories. Moreover, on November 8, the 20-year-old netminder became the first OHL player to commit to an NCAA Division I hockey program this season following his commitment to Clarkson University for the 2025-26 season.

Player and Defenceman of the Month – Sam Dickinson (London Knights) San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the London Knights has been named the OHL Player and Defenceman of the Month for November. He registered six goals, 19 assists, and 25 points, along with a plus/minus rating of plus-12 in 13 games played. Dickinson ranks first among OHL defencemen and third overall in OHL points this season, with 15 goals, 30 assists, and 45 points in 24 games. He recorded at least one point in 12 of his 13 November outings, including a career-high six-point performance on November 23 with a goal and five assists in a 6-5 win over the Saginaw Spirit. Dickinson also netted his second hat trick of the season on November 8 in a 6-2 victory over the North Bay Battalion, earning Player of the Week honours.

Also considered for November’s Player of the Month Award, 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit registered 22 points (7-15-22) in 11 games, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Nick Lardis of the Brantford Bulldogs tallied 13 goals and 13 assists (13-13-26) in 14 games, while recent University of Vermont commit Cedrick Guindon of the Kingston Frontenacs was also a standout, recording 23 points (10-13-23) in 13 contests.
Also considered for November’s Defenceman of the Month Award, Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh of the Saginaw Spirit registered 17 points (5-12-17) in 10 games, while 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Matthew Schaefer of the Erie Otters also performed, tallying five goals, 10 assists and 15 points with a plus/minus rating of plus-16 in 11 contests.
Goaltender of the Month – Jackson Parsons (Kitchener Rangers) Kitchener Rangers goaltender Jackson Parsons has been named the OHL Goaltender of the Month for November. Making 230 saves throughout the month, Parsons posted a 5-3-0-0 record, a 1.26 goals-against average, .958 save percentage, and three shutouts. He currently leads the OHL with a 2.12 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage, and a 14-5-1-0 record through 20 games this season. The fourth-year veteran was a standout in November, making 30+ saves in four outings and earning shutouts on November 8, 17, and 23. Parsons was also named OHL Goaltender of the Week twice during the month. He became the first OHL player to commit to an NCAA DI hockey program this season, heading to Clarkson University for 2025-26.
A 20-year-old native of Embrun, Ont., Parsons boasts a career record of 51-37-5-0 with a 3.07 goals-against average, a .900 save percentage, and seven shutouts in 98 regular season appearances with the Rangers. Standing at 6-foot-2 and 202lb., Parsons was selected by Kitchener in the third round (53rd overall) of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection from the Cornwall Colts U18 AAA program.
Also considered for the award this month, Aleksei Medvedev of the London Knights was impressive, compiling a perfect 6-0-0-0 record with a 1.98 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage, and one shutout.
Rookie of the Month – Aleksei Medvedev (London Knights) London Knights goaltender Aleksei Medvedev has been named the OHL Rookie of the Month for November after an outstanding performance. The first-year netminder posted a perfect 6-0-0-0 record, including his first OHL shutout on November 28 with 31 saves. He finished the month with a 1.98 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage, and five 30+ save performances, contributing to the Knights’ ongoing 18-game win streak. This season, Medvedev holds an 11-2-0-0 record, a 2.64 goals-against average, and a .918 save percentage, ranking fourth in save percentage and fifth in GAA among OHL goaltenders. Medvedev earned multiple accolades in November, being named OHL Goaltender of the Week once and OHL Rookie of the Week on two occasions.
The 17-year-old from St. Petersburg, Russia was selected by London in the second round (38th overall) of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-3, 180Ib. netminder was recently listed as a C-rated prospect on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch list for the 2025 NHL Draft.
Also considered for the award this month, Saginaw Spirit forward Dimian Zhilkin had nine points (5-4–9) in 12 games played. Ottawa 67’s goaltender Jaeden Nelson was also a standout, playing to a 3-0-0-2 record along with a 2.29 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

Knights’ Sam Dickinson Named Cogeco OHL Player of the Week
San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson of the London Knights is the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, registering four goals, four assists and eight points over three games played.
An 18-year-old from Toronto, Dickinson leads the Knights in scoring, and ranks first among all OHL blueliners in goals and points with 25 (11-14–25) over 15 games. Formerly a fourth overall pick by the Niagara IceDogs in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-3, 200Ib. left-shot blueliner has recorded 118 points (38-80–118) over 145 career regular season contests in London. He put up 13 points (4-9–13) over 18 games in last year’s playoffs as the Knights were crowned OHL champions. Dickinson was selected by the San Jose Sharks with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Also given consideration for the award this week, 2025 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Michael Misa registered four goals and three assists (4-3-7) as the Saginaw Spirit earned four points last week. Philadelphia Flyers prospect Jett Luchanko of the Guelph Storm was also a standout, tallying seven points (2-5-7) in three games played.

Spirit’s Andrew Oke Named OHL Goaltender of the Week
Andrew Oke of the Saginaw Spirit is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average, and a .957 save percentage.
Oke stopped 67 shots last week, helping the Spirit secure four of a possible six points. Oke made 34 saves in Saturday’s 5-1 win over the Windsor Spitfires, earning second star honours to record his 60th career victory and pass Tristan Lennox as the fifth-winningest goaltender in Spirit history. He returned to the net Sunday afternoon, stopping 33 of 35 shots in a 7-2 victory against the Flint Firebirds.
A 20-year-old from Shelby Township, MI., Oke holds a 9-6-1-0 record this season with a 3.20 goals-against average and .898 save percentage over 16 games. His 955 minutes played currently lead the OHL. Drafted in the fifth round (89th overall) by Saginaw in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-2, 190lb. netminder is in his fourth OHL season, with a career record of 61-42-4-0, a 3.57 goals-against average, .879 save percentage, and two shutouts in 117 regular season games played. A 2024 Memorial Cup champion with the Spirit, Oke boasts a 5-0-0-0 playoff record, with a 1.83 goals-against average, .938 save percentage, and a shutout. He attended Boston Bruins training camp as a free-agent invite this past summer.
Also considered for the award this week, Erie Otters netminder Noah Erliden went 2-1-0-0 with a 2.28 goals-against average and .923 save percentage including a shutout, while Zach Bowen helped the Peterborough Petes earn their first win of the season, playing to a 1-1-0-1 record along with a 2.28 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.
A 16-year-old from Almonte, Ont., Stevens has recorded nine points (3-6–9) through his first 16 games of the season. The 6-foot-1, 184Ib. centreman was selected by Guelph in the second round, 35th overall of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection from the Ottawa Valley Titans U16 AAA program.
Also considered for the award this week, Noah Read helped the London Knights earn six points, registered two goals and an assist. Storm teammate Danill Skvortsov was also a standout, tallying a goal and two assists last week.

Player of the Month – Michael Misa (Saginaw Spirit) Top 2025 NHL Draft prospect Michael Misa of the Saginaw Spirit is the OHL Player of the Month for October, leading the league with 17 goals over 13 games with a plus/minus rating of plus-8. Misa, who added nine assists to his stat line for a total of 26 points, has been held without a goal just twice so far this season, and has recorded at least one point in all 13 of his outings. Misa’s start to the season was headlined by a hat-trick as part of a four-point effort on Sept. 27th against the Soo Greyhounds. He enters November having scored in five consecutive games. Misa is the first Spirit player to earn OHL Player of the Month honours since Eric Locke in February 2013.
A 17-year-old from Oakville, Ont., Misa was selected by the Spirit as an exceptional status player with the first overall pick of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-1, 185Ib. centreman has accumulated 68 goals, 89 assists and 157 points over 125 season games with the Spirit, tacking on an additional 19 points (7-12–19) over 28 playoff contests. Misa, who hoisted the Memorial Cup with Saginaw this past June, was included as an A-rated prospect on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players to Watch List. He’ll compete as a member of Team CHL in the upcoming CHL/USA Prospects Challenge slated to take place on Nov. 26th and 27th in London and Oshawa.
Also considered for the award this month, Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree of the Windsor Spitfires put up 27 points (7-20–27) over 12 contests. NHL Draft prospect Porter Martone of the Brampton Steelheads was also a standout, registering 25 points (12-13–25) over 11 games to begin the campaign.
Defenceman of the Month – Luca Marrelli (Oshawa Generals) Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Luca Marrelli of the Oshawa Generals is the OHL Defenceman of the Month for October, leading blueliners with 17 points including eight goals and nine assists over 14 games along with a plus/minus rating of plus-13. Marrelli’s eight goals, just one of which has come on the power play while two have been game-winners, lead OHL blueliners. Marrelli has been held off the scoresheet just three times and he enters November with multi-point outputs in three consecutive games. Marrelli is the first Generals defender to earn OHL Defenceman of the Month recognition since Michael Del Zotto in December 2008.
A 19-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Marrelli has recorded 114 points (19-95–114) over 201 OHL regular season games since being selected by the Generals with their fifth-round (81st overall) pick in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. The 6-foot-2, 184Ib. defender helped Oshawa win an Eastern Conference title last spring, producing 13 points (2-11–13) over 21 playoff games. Marrelli was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the third-round (86th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Also considered for the award this month, London Knights defenceman Sam Dickinson returned from the San Jose Sharks to produce 15 points (7-8–15) over his first 10 games of the season. Windsor Spitfires blueliner Anthony Cristoforo was also excellent, leading the OHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-20 while recording 12 points (2-10–12) over 13 games.
Goaltender of the Month – Joey Costanzo (Windsor Spitfires) Windsor Spitfires netminder Joey Costanzo is the OHL Goaltender of the Month for October, playing to a 9-1-0-0 record with a 1.90 goals-against average, .934 save percentage and one shutout. Costanzo has surrendered more than two goals in a game just twice so far in 2024-25, steering the Spitfires to the top of the West Division standings. The fourth-year veteran came out of the gate with nine consecutive wins to start the season, making 30+ saves on four different occasions. Costanzo becomes the first Spitfire to get the nod as OHL Goaltender of the Month since Michael DiPietro in December 2016.
A 19-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Costanzo owns a career mark of 50-40-2-3 with a 3.96 goals-against average, .882 save percentage and two shutouts over 106 career regular season matchups between Windsor and Niagara. The 6-foot-1, 174Ib. Costanzo was the first goaltender chosen in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, going in the second-round (23rd overall) to the Niagara IceDogs from the Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program.
Also considered for the award this month, Owen Flores of the Niagara IceDogs was impressive, playing to a 7-1-0-0 record with a 2.26 goals-against average and .935 save percentage. Edmonton Oilers prospect Nathan Day of the Flint Firebirds turned aside 280 shots, going 6-4-0-1 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.
Rookie of the Month – Ethan Belchetz (Windsor Spitfires) First overall 2024 OHL Priority Selection choice Ethan Belchetz is off to a great start, being named October’s OHL Rookie of the Month with 12 points including four goals and eight assists over 12 games along with a plus/minus rating of plus-6. Belchetz led OHL rookies in points (12) and shots on goal (41) to begin the campaign, with two of his four markers coming shorthanded. His six-points effort (4-2–6) on Sept, 28th vs. Kitchener was the most productive single game performance by a 16-year-old rookie in the OHL since March 2010. Belchetz enters November with points in each of his last two outings and joins teammates Cole Davis (November 2023) and Liam Greentree (March 2023) in earning Rookie of the Month honours.
A 6-foot-5, 226Ib. 16-year-old from Oakville, Ont., Belchetz was chosen by the Spitfires with the first overall pick of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. Last year’s OHL Cup MVP was instrumental in leading the Oakville Rangers to a championship title in the annual showcase. Belchetz is set to represent Canada White in the 2024 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge taking place in Sarnia beginning on Sunday.
Also considered for the award this month, Sarnia Sting forward Beckham Edwards had 11 points (6-5–11) in his first 14 OHL games. Draft eligible forward Filip Ekberg of the Ottawa 67’s put up 10 points (5-5–10) over 12 contests.

Dickinson, who was selected by the San Jose Sharks with the 11th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Draft, started the week off with an overtime winner along with an assist in Friday’s 4-3 win over the Brantford Bulldogs. Dickinson followed Friday’s first star performance with another on Saturday in Saginaw, scoring and tacking on a helper as the Knights defeated the host Spirit 4-1. He rounded-out the weekend with three assists as London defeated the Sarnia Sting 5-2 on the road.

Firebirds’ Nathan Day Named OHL Goaltender of the Week
Edmonton Oilers prospect Nathan Day of the Flint Firebirds is the OHL Goaltender of the Week, going 2-0-0-1 with a 0.97 goals-against average, .969 save percentage and one shutout.
Day turned aside 94 shots last week, helping the Firebirds collect five of a possible six points. He made 22 saves in Wednesday morning’s 2-1 shootout loss in Sarnia before rebounding on Friday in Guelph, turning aside 35 shots as Flint beat the Storm 7-2. Day was at his best on Saturday back at home, making 37 saves in his first career OHL shutout as the Firebirds beat Owen Sound 3-0.
A 19-year-old from Grimsby, Ont., Day is 6-4-0-1 on the season with a 2.26 goals-against average and .918 save percentage over 11 games. Day was Edmonton’s sixth-round (184th overall) pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. The former third round (57th overall) pick by Flint in 2021 is now in his fourth OHL season, owning a career mark of 50-43-1-3 with a 3.60 goals-against average, .876 save percentage and one shutout over 105 regular season games.
Also considered for the award this week, Kitchener Rangers netminder Jackson Parsons went 2-0 with a 2.49 goals-against average and .919 save percentage while Sam Hillebrandt of the Barrie Colts was also sharp, going 1-1-0-0 with a 1.51 goals-against average and .949 save percentage.
Firebirds’ Cole Zurawski Named OHL Rookie of the Week
Flint Firebirds forward Cole Zurawski is the OHL Rookie of the Week, recording two goals and two assists over three contests.
Zurawski recorded his first career multi-goal effort on Friday in Guelph, scoring twice while adding an assist as the Firebirds beat the Guelph Storm 7-2. Zurawski followed-up the second star performance with an assist as the Firebirds defeated the Owen Sound Attack at home on Saturday.
A 16-year-old from Barrie, Ont., Zurawski has recorded nine points (4-5–9) through his first 12 games of the season. The 6-foot, 181Ib. right-winger was selected by Flint with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. Zurawski will represent Canada White at the 2024 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge that begins on Nov. 3rd in Sarnia.
Also considered for the award this week, Owen Sound Attack forward Pierce Mbuyi recorded four points (1-3–4) in three games while Barrie Colts forward Parker Vaughan produced three (2-1–3) in as many games.

The 2023-2024 Ontario Hockey League regular season has concluded, and the opening round of the playoffs is underway. However, we still have unfinished business from the regular season to address before the NHL Entry Draft.
As the Entry Draft scheduled for June 28-29 at the Sphere in Las Vegas approaches, we reflect on players eligible for the draft and review stats from the regular season across various categories.
A trio of North Bay Battalion players dominates the leaderboard: Dalyn Wakely and Owen Van Steensel, both in their third and final year of draft eligibility and Anthony Romani, entering the draft for the second time. With this being the likely final chance for Wakely and Van Steensel to impress scouts, and Romani looking to improve on his previous draft year, it’s reasonable to expect increased production from these veterans.
As expected, defenseman Zayne Parekh had a strong offensive season and finished among the league leaders in points. With 26 more points than Sam Dickinson, Parekh may have done enough to surpass Dickinson as the top defenseman prospect for the upcoming draft in June, but that question remains unsettled. Or does it?
In the crease, two of NHL Central Scouting’s top North American goaltenders solidified their places in the draft. The only question that remains “Is Carter George or Ryerson Leenders first off the board?” Only time will tell.

Seattle Kraken prospect David Goyette of the Sudbury Wolves is the OHL Player of the Month, leading the League with 25 points including eight goals and 17 assists over 13 games played in February. Increasing his point streak to 15 consecutive games, Goyette registered points in all 13 showings this month including a trio of three-point performances on Feb. 9 against the Niagara IceDogs, Feb. 19 against the Guelph Storm, and Feb. 25 against the Mississauga Steelheads. Goyette tallied his sixth four-point showing of the season on Feb. 11, tallying a goal and three assists in an 8-7 overtime win against the Steelheads. He’s the first Wolves player to earn OHL Player of the Month honours since Michael Sgarbossa in February 2012.
A soon-to-be 20-year-old, Goyette leads all OHL point-getters with 95 points (36-59-95) through 57 games played this season. The Hawkesbury, Ont. native ranks fifth in goal-scoring and second in assists, registering a plus/minus rating of plus-15. A 5-foot-11, 181Ib. right-winger, Goyette is in his third season with the Wolves, having recorded 110 goals, 150 assists and 260 points over 186 career regular season games since being selected by Sudbury with the 11th overall pick of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. Goyette was drafted by the Seattle Kraken with their second round (61st overall) pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, signing a three-year entry-level contract with the club on Apr. 10, 2023. Goyette won a gold medal with Canada at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
Defenceman of the Month – Sam Dickinson (London Knights)
Top 2024 NHL Draft-eligible prospect Sam Dickinson of the London Knights is the OHL Defenceman of the Month, recording 20 points including four goals and 16 assists along with a plus/minus rating of plus-9 over 12 games. Dickinson helped the League-leading Knights play to a February mark of 10-2 as they clinched a spot in the OHL Playoffs for a 23rd straight season. Recording points in 11 of his 12 outings, Dickinson recorded a three-point showing on Feb. 7, registering three assists in a 9-2 win over Flint. He helped lead the Knights to an overtime victory over the Generals on Feb.11, tallying a pair of assists including one on the game-winner. Dickinson registered a goal and an assist on Feb. 24, helping the Knights earn a 4-3 shootout win over the Ottawa 67’s. Dickinson follows teammate Oliver Bonk in being named OHL Defenceman of the Month. They’re the first set of teammates to claim the honour in the same season since Knights rearguards Evan Bouchard and Adam Boqvist last did so in 2018-19.
A 17-year-old from Toronto, Ont., Dickinson sits third among OHL defencemen with 63 points (17-46–63) over 58 games while his plus/minus rating of plus-45 ranks second among all OHL skaters. Selected fourth overall by the Niagara IceDogs in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-3, 195Ib. defenceman has registered 26 goals, 60 assists, and 86 points in 120 played over two seasons with the Knights. He helped the Knights reach the OHL Championship Series last spring after being voted to the OHL’s first all-rookie team, recording four goals and four assists during their 21-game playoff run. Dickinson won gold with Canada at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer and was the seventh ranked North American skater on NHL Central Scouting’s Midseason NHL Draft Rankings released on Jan. 12.
Goaltender of the Month – Dom DiVincentiis (North Bay Battalion)
Winnipeg Jets prospect Dom DiVincentiis of the North Bay Battalion is the OHL Goaltender of the Month for February, playing to a 7-1 record with a 2.39 goals-against average and .916 save percentage along with a shutout. Helping the Battalion clinch a spot in the OHL Playoffs, DiVincentiis opened the month with his first shutout of the season on Feb. 1 with a 22-save performance against the Mississauga Steelheads. DiVincentiis had a pair of 30+ save performances, earning wins on Feb. 16 against Ottawa and Feb. 23 against Saginaw as the Battalion now sit third in the Eastern Conference standings. This marks DiVincentiis’ third OHL Goaltender of the Month honour, following previous recognition in January and March 2023.
A soon-to-be 20-year-old from Bolton, Ont., DiVincentiis has played to a season record of 21-9-3-1 including a shutout, along with a 3.22 goals-against average and .891 save percentage. Selected in the sixth round (116th overall) by North Bay in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, the 6-foot-3, 200lb. netminder has appeared in 110 career regular season contests, recording a 71-26-5-2 record, 2.68 goals-against average and .907 save percentage over three seasons. Backstopping the Battalion to back-to-back Eastern Conference Championship Series appearances, the reigning OHL Goaltender of the Year has had great success in the playoffs, making 26 appearances while accruing a record of 13-9-4-0 with a 2.76 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. A former seventh round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in the 2022 NHL Draft, DiVincentiis signed a three-year entry-level contract with the club on July 5, 2023.
Rookie of the Month – Riley Patterson (Barrie Colts)
Barrie Colts forward Riley Patterson is the OHL Rookie of the Month for the second month in a row, leading all first-year talents with 18 points including 10 goals and eight assists over 12 games. Patterson put together six multi-point performances in the month of February, including a a three-point effort with a pair of goals and an assist on Feb. 17. Patterson tallied five points in his final two games of the month, closing out February with a second three-point performance on Feb. 28, scoring two goals and an assist to help the Colts defeat the Sudbury Wolves. Patterson becomes the first player to earn two OHL Rookie of the Month honours in the same season since Shane Wright (Kingston) and Mason McTavish (Peterborough) did so in 2019-20.
A soon-to-be 18-year-old from Burlington, Ont., Patterson currently leads OHL rookies with 26 goals, adding 30 assists for 56 points over 56 games. The 6-foot, 194Ib. centreman joined the Colts last summer, coming over in a trade from the Flint Firebirds who selected him in the third round (57th overall) of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. A former OHL Cup champion with the Mississauga Senators U16 program, Patterson was the OJHL Rookie of the Year in 2022-23, recording 73 points (30-43–73) over 52 games with the North York Rangers Jr. A program. Patterson was the 116th ranked North American skater on NHL Central Scouting’s Midseason NHL Draft Rankings released on Jan. 12.
